The capital city of Columbus, in the heart of central Ohio, offers various fall festivals and autumn activities for children and families to enjoy this Halloween season.

North Market Harvest Festival

North Market's annual fall festival runs from 9am to 5pm on Saturday October 6, 2007. Fresh fall produce is showcased and highlights include chances to win gift certificates for North Market, apple pie and pumpkin pie contests, apple cider and other fall foods and harvest festival activities. The North Market Harvest Festival in downtown Columbus is free.

Freeman's Farm Fall Festival

Freeman's Country Market sits in the countryside just a few minutes from Columbus and is open all year round. Each fall it offers seasonal foods and gifts and fun fall festival activities. The 2007 Freeman's Farm Fall Festival runs every weekend in October and offers hayrides, wagon rides, a petting zoo, pumpkins, scarecrow making, fresh fall produce, and more fall food and seasonal activities. Hours are 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and 12 to 5pm on Sundays.

Creepside Festival at the Gahanna Golf Course

Each fall the Gahanna Golf Course offers a Halloween festival with hayrides, costume contests and other activities catered towards children and families. This Gahanna Park and Recreation Department fall festival is from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 and is free.

It is the 10th anniversary of the restoration of the 146 year old Ohio Statehouse. Visitors this fall brave a Halloween tour through dark passageways led by tour guides in costume carrying oil lamps. The haunted tours feature creepy historic relics and eerie ghost stories about famous politicians and run the last two weekends of October. Statehouse Ghost Tours are 30 minutes long and begin at 7pm, 7:30pm, 8pm, 8:30pm, 9pm, and 9:30pm on October 19, 20, 26, and 27, 2007.

Providence Farm Pumpkin Festival

The third annual Providence Farm Pumpkin Festival runs from Noon to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday October 6 and 7, 2007. This family friendly fall festival offers hayrides, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, live music, fresh fall food, and more. Admission is free and some of the activities cost between $2 and $5. Fall items such as corn stalks, pumpkins, gourds, and hardy mums will be available for sale.

Olde Worthington Fall Festival

Olde Worthington hosts a Fall Festival on Saturday October 13, 2007, on the historic Village Green in Columbus' northern suburb.. The second annual Olde Worthington Fall Festival offers many children's activities such as pumpkin painting and face painting, as well as music, crafts, fall food, cider, and more. The fall festival takes place between 9am and 4pm and coincides with the Worthington Farmer's Market. The farmer's market will offer gourds, pumpkins, fresh fall produce and plants.
