Guide to Complete Winter Skin Care

Sean Hein
Although it is sheer pleasure to cuddle up in bed in the chilly winter season, it is equally bothering for our skin. Winter lasts for around 3-4 months, and the weather is dry and windy at that time. Our skin tends to be dry, flaky and results in cracked lips and dry hair. Those who already have a dry skin problem suffer more during winter as the skin loses its moisture more than usual.

A good skin care routine will help minimize the effects of winter on our skin. Here is a complete guide to skin care in winter. Just follow the different hints given below and save your skin from the harshness of winter.

1.Try and cover all the exposed parts of your body like your face, head and hands with a scarf or a hat and woolen gloves when out in the open. Apply a lip balm on your lips to keep them moist. Don't keep any part of your body open to chilling winds and low temperatures.

2.Lock in the moisture on your face and hands by applying a good deep moisturizer after bath and before bedtime. Always clean your face before applying any cream. You can use a good body lotion to apply on the whole body as well.

3.Massaging Vitamin E rich oil like almond oil onto your body will work wonders. This can be done around thrice a week. You can add a few drops of lavender oil to almond oil (base oil) and rub on this mixture after bath, when your skin is a little damp. Discontinue the use of lavender oil if it does not suit your skin. You may go for another essential oil.

4.Even before having a bath, a self massage with warm oil really helps. It rejuvenates your skin and makes it baby soft. Moreover, it is useful for relaxing the muscles and improving blood circulation.

5.Take care of your feet by immersing them in warm water at thrice a week. You can add sea salts and some drops of aromatic oil to the water. Soak for around fifteen minutes. Dry the feet and dab on some foot cream or olive oil. This will keep you away from cracked heels and loosen your foot muscles too.

6.Use warm water for bathing. Hot water rids your body of moisture, and leaves your skin dry. Also, use cream based mild soaps to bathe as they are gentler on your skin.

7.Include soaked almonds, walnuts, milk, and fresh cheese in your diet regularly. Have a glass of milk every night to keep you warm and hydrated. Consume fresh fruits and vegetables during this season which provide your daily dose of Vitamins.

8.Boost your immune system by consuming the Amla fruit (Indian Gooseberry) since it is very rich in Vitamin C. It will build up your immunity and help your body fight against common cold and fever. It also provides nourishment to your body internally and keeps you fit.

Now that you have all the information needed to combat the freezing winds in winter, keep your skin happy this season!
