Guide to Creating a Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean Scrapbook Layout

Maggie Blake
Most people who have ever taken a trip to Disneyland came home with more photos than they know what to do with. While some people will choose to keep their Disneyland photos in an album, and others might not even take their photos out of their digital camera for several months, there are those who can't wait to get home so they can scrapbook their Disneyland photos.

Disneyland photos can be used to create some really spectacular scrapbook layouts. Unfortunately, there is somewhat of a shortage of resources on the Internet when it comes to inspiration and ideas pertaining to scrapbook layouts specific to the Disneyland theme park. If you're looking for ideas to implement as you create a scrapbook layout inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland, this guide can help!

Paper - One of the easiest ways to make your Pirates of the Caribbean scrapbook layout represent the Disneyland attraction is to choose your papers to match the most prominent colors you see during the ride. Lucky for those who love scrapbooking, there are many papers that are perfect for this theme, including specialty papers that look like sand, bricks, and even wooden planks. For best results, limit the number of different paper styles to three or four.

Embellishments - Embellishments can be purchased or made at home by hand. There are some commercial Pirates of the Caribbean embellishments specific to the ride at Disneyland available at craft stores. However, embellishments could also be made by using photographs taken of the queue area while in line for the ride, or by using postcards purchased inside Disneyland featuring elements of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Stickers can also be used for embellishments.

Another great way to craft embellishments by hand is to use clip art that you find online. Get extra creative by printing clip art onto cardstock, then cut and reassemble in a three dimensional pattern. If you look at commercially sold scrapbooking embellishments, such as those manufactured by Jolie's, you'll find that this technique is how many of them are constructed.

Journaling - To integrate journaling into your Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean scrapbook layout, consider using an aging process such as tea staining, to make your journaling paper appear authentic. You could also carefully burn the edges of the paper to make your journaling tie in nicely with the rest of your themed layout.

The most important rule to keep in mind while creating your Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean scrapbook layout, is to use colors and elements that best represent the ride experience to you.
