The purpose of this article is to instruct you in how to make your own private RuneScape server. This tutorial assumes basic knowledge of RuneScape private servers such as usage, minimum computer requirements and knowledge of the RuneScape TOS. Also, a somewhat more than basic grasp of the technologies involved is recommended. This guide to making a private RuneScape server is not for beginners, and the author makes no guarantees of success or support of these techniques.

How to Make A Private RuneScape Server, Step 1: Download and Install Java

If you do not have the latest version of Java on your computer, download and install it here. Installing Java from Sun Microsystems must be your first step in creating your own private RuneScape server. If any difficulties are encountered with this step, support is available through the official Java site. If this step is not completed properly, the second step of creating a private RuneScape server will fail. Take the time to assure yourself that this step is complete in order to save hassle later.

How to Make A Private RuneScape Server, Step 2: Download and Extract Server Files

Download the server files here. In order to make your own private RuneScape server, you will need to extract these files to a folder on your desktop. Use any unzipping program you have, such as WinRAR. Then run the compile.bat file by simply double clicking on it. If you receive any errors, it is probably due to Java not being installed correctly. Repeat steps one and two again. If you still have issues, try the troubleshooting tip below. If everything is correct, move on to step three of creating your own private RuneScape server.

Troubleshooting Tip: If you are continually generating errors in step two of creating a private RuneScape server, move the files from the folder to the BIN folder of your Java installation. Run compile.bat again, then move the files back where they belong. Run again, and you should be all set.

How to Make a Private RuneScape Server, Step 3: Download and Extract Client Files

Download the client files here. Extract the files to a folder on he desktop, then run rsprivservclient.exe. Let it load up completely. Fill in any user name you choose for your private RuneScape server when the option appears, and for IP address, simply put in "localhost" without the quotes.

By following the steps above, you will have successfully created your own private RuneScape server. Be sure to search the internet for information on all of the commands and administrative controls you will now be able to access. Have fun with your private RuneScape server!
