Guide to Dayton Christmas Events, Festivals 2007

Dayton, Ohio celebrates the holiday season with Christmas Festivals beginning in early November and lasting through December 2007. From an old fashioned Christmas Festival in historic Springboro, to Party at the North Pole at Dayton's Boonshoft Museum, to a free weekend holiday festival downtown, Dayton gears up for various Christmas and Holiday Festivals with activities for all ages.

Sugarplum Festival of Trees

Dayton's Sugarplum Festival of Trees features designer theme trees, a Sugarplum Shoppe, and holiday crafts, with proceeds benefiting the Children's Medical Center. Children will enjoy Breakfast with Santa and other holiday activities the weekend of November 9 through 11, 2007. This holiday festival is also the Miami Valley area's premier holiday shopping event with homemade foods and crafts. TWIG's, Terrific Women in Giving, the auxiliary of The Children's Medical Center of Dayton, hosts the annual Sugarplum Festival of Trees as their major fundraiser each year.

The 2007 holiday festival season in Dayton kicks off with a black tie optional Festival of the Trees Gala and Dinner featuring a silent and live auction on Friday November 9 at 7pm. Reservations are needed for the gala as well as for the Luncheon and Fashion Show on Saturday and Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, November 11.

Strolling musicians, Christmas carols, and horse drawn trolleys create a historic atmosphere for this winter festival. The weekend festival highlight is the parade on Saturday, November 17 at Noon. Other activities include a children's area, crafts, food, and more. The Christmas festival hours are from 6 to 10pm on Friday, November 16, from 10am to 9pm on Saturday, and from Noon to 5pm Sunday, November 18.

Experience instant snow and live animals, make cookies and more from Noon to 3pm on Saturday, November 24, at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Kids can meet a North Pole researcher and have fun while learning at this Dayton holiday event. Party at the North Pole is free with the regular cost of admission which is $8.50 for adults, $7 for children 2 to 12, and is free for museum SmartPass members.

Dayton Holiday Festival
Downtown Dayton, Ohio

The Dayton Holiday Festival was founded 35 years ago by Virginia Kettering as a free holiday festival for people of all demographics to celebrate the different holidays of the season. Admission is still free in 2007 for the Dayton Holiday Festival which begins the weekend after Thanksgiving and runs through the end of December. The month long festival kicks off on Friday November 23 with The Grande Illumination followed by the Thanksgiving weekend highlight, Dayton's Children Parade on Sunday November 25. There are family friendly activities throughout the festival weekends such as the Tike's Shop, Wonderland Windows with animated Santas, historic neighborhood trolley tours, and many more.
