Guide to Family Restaurants in Bucks County, Pennsylvania

The Cultural Region Has Great Family Restaurants

Ron Hart
The Cultural Region of Bucks County, Pennsylvania is a popular family vacation destination. While the Cultural Region is known, at least in part, for its chic dining and drinking establishments, it also offers good family style restaurants with more affordable pricing, a child friendly atmosphere and menus offering food for all ages.

The following are five of the best family restaurants in the Cultural Region of Bucks County.

The Spotted Hog
Route 202 and Street Road
Lahaska, Pennsylvania
www.peddlersvillage.com

The Spotted Hog is part of a popular shopping area in the Cultural Region known as Peddler's Village. Peddler's Village is a group of some 70 independent stores in an 18th century type of setting.

The Spotted Hog is a great place for a memorable night out with the family, or a place to fuel up during a break in shopping Peddler's Village. It offers breakfast, which is quite popular in the area, as well as a takeout menu.

The Cock 'n Bull
Routes 202 and 203
Lahaska, Pennsylvania
www.peddlersvillage.com

The Cock 'n Bull is a colonial style restaurant that features a great Sunday brunch, old fashion American food and décor and ambiance that will take you back to the Colonial days (even, which I must assume you weren't), you were never there.

The artwork itself here makes the Cock 'n Bull worth visiting, but the food is what keeps people in the Cultural region coming back.

Hart's Tavern
Routes 202 and 263
Lahaska, Pennsylvania
www.peddlersvillage.com

Yes, this is a tavern, but it made my list as one of the best family style restaurants in the Cultural Region due to its very kid friendly menu (deep dish pizza and nachos are among the favorites) and laid back, casual atmosphere. Along with the Spotted Hog and the Cock 'N Bull, Hart's Tavern is part of the Peddlers' Village area and attracts families when they're done with, or taking a break from, their shopping.

This is a good place with or without kids, as the crowd is older, friendly and the staff accommodating to all.

Despite its status as a tavern, this is a smoke free place

The Lobster Claw
800 North Easton Road
Doylestown, Pennsylvania

While Bucks County is not known as a hotbed for seafood, the Lobster Claw manages to serve daily fresh seafood at moderate prices. The Lobster Claw is known for its crab cakes and seafood platters, but also offers a childrens' menu and plenty to offer the non-seafood loving people out there with a wide array of well prepared deli style sandwiches.

This is a very casual, but clean, place; perfect for families with children. The Lobster Claw does not serve alcohol (though patrons can bring their own, it's pretty rare) and is a non smoking establishment. It also offers a takeout menu for those on the go.

Eagle Diner
6522 Lower York Road
New Hope, Pennsylvania
www.eaglediner.com

The Eagle Diner is a slightly upscale (by diner standards anyway), but thoroughly unpretentious place right out of the "American diner" textbook. This is a great place for a relaxed and affordable family meal, with good food, an all you can eat salad bar, and homemade daily specials.

While it has a certain old time charm to it, the Eagle Diner has made two important concessions to the times: plentiful "healthy" menu options and a no-smoking policy, both of which help make it one of the best family restaurants in the Cultural Region of Bucks County. It does not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own.

So if you have lived in the Cultural Region of Bucks County for a while, you probably already know about most of these places. But if you are new to the area or are just visiting with the family, they are all great choices for a family night out.
