Elephant: The elephant was released in late summer 2009, available only via gifts from friends. At the time, elephants were everywhere-they looked cool and were easy to get. However, because this animal is very large, many players sold it in order to make room for crops and other farm items. The elephant was also released at a time when not as many people played Farmville. Both of these factors contribute to its rarity.
Lawn Jockey: This was a decorative statue of a lawn jockey holding a lantern. It was released in Farmville's BETA stage (summer 2009) and cost $8 Farm Cash. On August 21, 2009, Farmville removed this item because it offended some people on the Farmville forums. This is considered to be Farmville's rarest item. If you're interesting in learning more about lawn jockeys, read the Wikipedia entry.
Silver Streak Trailer: This was available in the 3rd generation Mystery Boxes and Crates.
Owl: A Halloween decoration (this was not an interactive animal) that could be purchased for $15 Farm Cash.
Tree Swing: Obtainable in one of the first mystery boxes or golden eggs, the Tree Swing was a decorative (non harvestable) tree.
Acai Tree: Although it's still available in the Farmville store, very few players own it, likely due to its high Farm Cash price of $27.
Crop Circles: This was from early November's "Close Encounters" event. At the time, many farms had crop circles, but because they take up so much space, people sold them, as storage was not available at the time.
How do you get rare Farmville items?
Most of the items listed above are not available in any mystery boxes, mystery crates or golden mystery eggs anymore, but occasionally Farmville brings back items, either available via gifting or through the mystery methods. At the moment, there is no option to send items on your farm to friends. If a trading method becomes available in the future, you might have a chance at scoring one of these rare Farmville items. In the meantime, start collecting any limited edition items, keep opening those mystery boxes and hatching eggs. Good luck and happy farming!
