It is often overwhelming trying to wade through the sea of new high tech computers and find the perfect computer for your needs. The key to finding the right computer and saving money is understanding your basic computer needs. If all you do is surf the Internet, send email, read books, and use the word-processing program, your needs are quite basic. And it simply does not make good money sense to spend thousands on a brand new high tech computer if you are a low tech kind of person. Finding Free & Cheap Computers

Just Ask - That's right. Perhaps you have a friend, acquaintance, family member, who has an extra computer that is still in working order. Volunteer to take the computer off their hands. If the operating system is in good order you are good to go. And you've just scored a free computer.

Craigslist - Don't forget to check out the Craigslist in your location. Many people who are moving or relocating wish to empty out unused furniture and electronics. So, they just might list a perfectly good and free computer that is still in working order. Usually to get the free computer the interestred party calls the advertiser and arranged a pick up date or the advertiser might simply set the object on the sidewalk and it's available to the one who gets there to pick it up first.

Refurbished - Refurbished computers are not exactly free computers but they save consumers money. Most Refurbished computer's are adequate for basic computer requirements., They are often tagged refurbished because they were returned to the manufacturer for some reason. And the manufacturer usually checks them out and brings them back up to speed and resells them to consumers.

eBay - Many are familiar with eBay. The auction site is a great way to get a good deal on a computer. Surf on over to eBay and check out the deals there on computers. Often, you will find deals on refurbished and gently used computers saving over half their original cost.

Manufacturer Deals - Visit computer website like Dell, HP, and check out their deals on refurbished models. You are sure to find a few hidden bargains. And don't forget to check their back to school deals, and end of year special sales for more bargains.
