The City of Honolulu, Hawaii has one of the best networks of handicapped accessible beaches you will find anywhere and since the beaches are one of the things everyone comes to Hawaii for, it helps make for a memorable Hawaii vacation for everyone. There handicapped accessible laws on both the local and federal levels and some places do just what is required to meet the minimum standards. For instance, just having the required amount of handicapped accessible parking places and having one small area handicapped accessible. The beaches in Honolulu go way beyond what they have to do. They not only have special beach wheelchairs, for both adults and children, but one of them has special mats that any wheelchair can use and go down right to the water. And when you want more than a visit to the beach, check out the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. The entire facility is handicapped accessible and it is a treasure trove for those who like nature and want to learn what is being done to preserve it. The beauty of Honolulu Hawaii is unlike anything anywhere else and there is no reason why anyone has to miss out on a dream vacation.

Ala Moana Beach has all terrain wheelchairs available at two concession stands, one at each end of the beach. These chairs can go over any type of surface from sand to gravel and practically everything else. Like a cross between a wheelchair and a dune buggy. There are also special beach mats that lead right to the water for any kind of chair. The beach is at 1201 Ala Moana.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve has the beach wheelchairs, but it is much more than an beach and the other parts of the preserve are fully accessible also. They have their own tram that transports quests to and from the beach and is has a wheelchair ramp. And the theater has a closed captioned screen. This is one beautiful place for everyone to visit. Sans Souci Beach Park has the wheelchairs available at the Hans Hedemann Surf School in the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel They are located at 2863 Kalakaua Avenue. Honolulu

Kualoa Regional Park the wheelchairs are available at campground A. The office where you pick up the chairs has accessible ramps. They are located at 49-479 Kamehameha Highway. Honolulu

Kailua Beach Park has the wheelchairs available at their concessions stands. They are at 526 Kawailoa Road Honolulu
