Guide to Getting Rhinoplasty in Albuquerque

Marilyn Quinn
Rhinoplasty, better know as a nose job, can be performed for a number of reasons. We mainly think of plastic surgery as a remedy for aesthetic reasons; to make someone's nose more attractive. Rhinoplasty can also be performed to correct birth defects, as reconstruction following a trauma or because of breathing problems.

If you live in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area; rhinoplasty costs in the range of $4200-$4500 dollars. You should check with the individual surgeons for exact prices.

Recovery time from a rhinoplasty occurs in different levels of progression. The Albuquerque Center For Plastic Surgery says that you can return to work after the surgery in one to two weeks. You can engage in more strenuous activities in two to three weeks. They recommend that you avoid hitting your nose or getting a sunburn for eight weeks. The final appearance of your nose will be a year or more; however, results are permanent.

Some information you my find helpful to know if you are considering a rhinoplasty:

The surgery takes one to two hours to complete.

The surgery can be performed with local anesthesia with sedation or with general anesthesia.

Rhinoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis.

Some side effects of the surgery are temporary swelling, bruising around the eyes and nose, headaches.

There will also be some bleeding and stiffness.

As with all surgical procedures, there are risks associated with having rhinoplasty. These can include infection, small burst blood vessels that result in tiny, permanent red spots and incomplete improvement which would require additional surgery.

Plastic surgery is generally considered an elective surgery and because of that your medical insurance will not usually cover the costs associated with it. If you are having the rhinoplasty to correct breathing problems then they may cover some of the costs. You should contact your insurance company about the possibility that they may cover some of the costs for medical reasons. Also you should be in communication with the doctor to explore the options about financing the cost you will be incurring out-of-pocket.
