Guide on How to Grill Pork Chops

Melina Ann Collison
My family grills outside on our back patio almost every evening. Pork Chops are the #1 favorite with my children. We try to grill as a family getting the kids involved. There are many recipes we use to grill with. Let me share with you my family's tips on how to grill pork chops, recipes for grilling pork chops, along with product recommendations, and websites.

To start grilling preheat your propane or charcoal grill for 7-10 minutes before placing the meat. Make sure the grilling area is cleaned so your pork chops do not stick. You can spray the grilling area with non-stick spray to help this as well. When grilling make sure your meat is fully defrosted so it cooks evenly and all the way through. Try to turn the meat only once, so cook it all the way on one side before turning it to the next side. Do not use a fork or anything else that puts holes in the meat, this allows juices to escape. If you are adding sauces to the pork chops do so at the end of grilling when the meat is fully cooked. This will help stop the meat from burning.

Try to get pork chops ¾ inch thick. The best grilling comes from choosing the right meat from the beginning. This also includes picking the correct recipe too. Here are some of my family's favorite pork chop recipes.

Grilled Pork Chops

1 pound of pork chops
Your favorite seasonings

Take 1 pound of pork chops and season with your favorite seasonings. I use a pinch each of garlic powder, Lawry's Seasoning Salt, and Tony Catcher's Creole Salt-Free Seasoning. Coat both sides of the pork chop and let sit for about 15 minutes. Grill on top rack over high heat turning once. About 5-7 minutes each side depending on propane or charcoal grills. Remove from heat and serve. Feeds a family of 4.

Teriyaki Pork Chops

1 pound pork chops
Teriyaki marinade
Gallon Size Ziploc bag

Take 1 pound of pork chops marinate them in the Ziploc plastic bag with the teriyaki marinade overnight. Preheat grill and place meat on top rack. Spoon remaining marinade over the top of pork chops. Grill 5-7 minutes over high heat, taking care turning the first time so that the marinade doesn't spill all over causing more flames and heat to be applied to the meat. Remove from heat and serve. Feeds a family of 4.
