Guide to High-End Swiss Digital Watches

When it comes to digital watches, the famous watch company Casio has probably a monopoly on worldwide sales of digital watches. They manufacture great digital watches at very affordable prices. However, Casio is not the only watch company that manufactures digital watches. Many luxury Swiss watch companies manufacture watches with digital displays. They are somewhat hybrids between a regular watch and a digital watch. For example, on the dial of a typical digital watch, like Casio, the whole watch dial is digital. And when it comes to a Swiss digital watch, the watch dial is just like any other regular watch dial with three hands for minutes, hours and seconds, but the watch dial also has a built in digital display usually in the middle or on the side for extras like second time zone, world timer, alarm, compass or a chronographer. All those extras are great and very useful and they also make the watch look more unique since the dial is half digital. By the way all those extras will cost many thousands of dollars if they were not digital but mechanical on a Swiss made watch with an automatic (self-winding) movement.

Lets start with the famous luxury Swiss watch company called Breitling. Breitling manufactures mostly watches with automatic (self-winding) movements. They are not digital and do not have any digital displays on their dials. However, they also manufacture couple of watch collections with watches that are partially digital. Those watches have digital displays on their dials but other than that look just like many other Breitling watches. Currently Breitling manufactures the following watch collections where watches have digital dials: Breitling Aerospace Avantage, Breitling Airwolf, Breitling Emergency and Breitling Co-Pilot. Many watches in those collections feature great extras like second time zone, alarm, day/date calendar and chronographer. Many of those watches also have a backlight feature. Prices on those watches start at about three thousand dollars and go up to seven thousand dollars depending on the model.

TAG Heuer is another great luxury Swiss watch company that manufactures watches with digital dials. Currently TAG Heuer manufactures the following watch collections where watches have digital dials: TAG Heuer F1 Chronotimer, TAG Heuer Microtimer, TAG Heuer Monaco Sixty Nine and TAG Heuer Aquaracer Chronotimer. Just like Breitling watches, TAG Heuer watches, are partially digital. Those watches have digital displays on their dials but other than that look just like many other TAG Heuer watches. However, TAG Heuer Microtimer watch is just like a Casio watch. The whole watch dial of the TAG Heuer Microtimer watch is digital. Also just like Casio watches it comes with a rubber strap. Many watches in those collections feature great extras like second time zone, alarm, day/date calendar and chronographer. Many of those watches also have a backlight feature. Prices on those watches start at about one thousand dollars and go up to six thousand dollars depending on the model.

Tissot is a very famous Swiss watch company that manufactures really great watches. Tissot is manufacturing many watches with quartz (battery powered) movements and automatic (self-winding) movements. However, they also manufacture very unique watches with digital dials. This very famous watch collection is called Tissot T-Touch. Tissot T-Touch watch collection gets it's name from the ability to navigate the watch features by simply touching the watch dial. Those touch screen watches are very unique and fashionable. The Tissot T-Touch watches feature great extras like chronographer, alarm, barometer, day/date calendar, thermometer and compass. Most of the watches in the Tissot T-Touch collection are made of polished titanium and some even have fancy mother of pearl dials. Also, some watches from this collection are made of eighteen karat yellow gold. Watches from the Tissot T-Touch collection have a very unique mix of technology, fashion and luxury. Prices on those watches start at about six hundred dollars and go up to six thousand dollars depending on the model.

Other Swiss watch companies manufacture great watches with digital dials also. For example, watch companies like Swiss Army, Chase-Durer and Accutron. Lets start with Swiss Army. Swiss Army manufactures a very unique watch with a digital dial called Swiss Army Chrono Classic XLS MT. This watch features great extras like second time zone, low battery indicator, alarm, day/date calendar and chronographer. This watch is water proof up to one hundred meters and is 45mm wide. You can purchase a Swiss Army Chrono Classic XLS MT watch with a stainless steel bracelet and a quartz movement for about one thousand dollars. Swiss Army Chrono Classic XLS MT watch comes with a three year manufacturer warranty. Chase-Durer manufactures a chunky watch with a digital dial called Chase-Durer Central Command Alarm Chronograph. This watch feature great extras like alarm, day/date calendar and chronographer. This watch is water proof up to one hundred meters and is 45mm wide. You can purchase a Chase-Durer Central Command Alarm Chronograph watch with a stainless steel bracelet and a quartz movement for about nine hundred dollars. Chase-Durer Central Command Alarm Chronograph watch comes with a two year manufacturer warranty. And finally, Accutron manufactures a sleek watch with a digital dial called Accutron Telluride. This watch feature great extras like alarm, day/date calendar, chronographer and a perpetual calendar that keeps the date accurate until 2099. This watch is water proof up to fifty meters and is 41mm wide. You can purchase an Accutron Telluride watch with a stainless steel case and a black vulcanized rubber strap with a quartz movement for about eight hundred dollars. Accutron Telluride watch comes with a five year manufacturer warranty.

Japanese digital watches are very different from Swiss digital watches. Casio, Citizen and Seiko are three very famous Japanese watch companies that manufacture digital watches. All digital watches that Casio, Citizen and Seiko manufacture are more casual and sporty. While Swiss watch companies like Tissot, TAG Heuer and Breitling manufacture digital watches that are more sleek and luxury. Swiss watch companies are very proud of their mechanical watch making heritage and will probably have a hard time competing with Japanese watch companies when it comes to digital watches. But nevertheless, Swiss digital watches are definitely great and unique alternatives to Japanese digital watches.
