The Ohio River town of Madison, Indiana hosts its 12th annual holiday event, Festival of Trees. Madison showcases a highly acclaimed, wide array of holiday displays and over 75 impressive Christmas trees. This free holiday event at Lanthier Winery starts Thanksgiving weekend and runs through December 23, 2007. The Festival of Trees is accompanied by the Sugarplum Celebration with holiday sweets from 11am to 3pm December 8 and 9, 2007. The Madison Christmas events are located 123 Mill Street in Madison. Brown County's festive town of Nashville, Indiana is decked out with lights and gift shopping delights at more than 100 shops each holiday season. A free holiday event is a Christmas concert on December 15 at Brown County High School featuring the Community Band and the Brown County Choir. Coachlight Musical Theater features an original musical comedy 'A Brown County Christmas' from November 23 to December 16, 2007 and their website has a complete schedule of show times. A Brown County Christmas takes place at 227 South Van Buren Street in Nashville.
Indiana's land of covered bridges, Parke County is home to the holiday festival Old Fashioned Christmas in Mansfield. Quaint Mansfield Village sparkles with lights and decorations and shopping for Christmas décor, food, homemade crafts and food is a highlight. The Mansfield Indiana Christmas festival also features a turkey dinner, a live nativity scene, and a visit from Santa Claus. Old Fashioned Christmas in Mansfield 2007 takes place Thanksgiving weekend and the first weekend of December. Hours are 5 to 9pm on Fridays, November 23 and 30; 10am to 9pm on Saturdays November 24 and December 1; 10am to 4pm on Sundays November 25 and December 2.
The Indianapolis Zoo presents its annual holiday event, Kroger Christmas at the Zoo and Indiana Rail Road's Holiday Trainland. Holiday lights sparkle throughout the zoo. White River Gardens offers a Christmas Shoppe and the conservatory delights children with its model trains going through a large display. The Indianapolis Zoo's holiday event is included with the price of admission and runs from November 30 to December 30, 2008. Holiday activities are nightly from 5pm to 9pm.
Charles Dickens' holiday classic A Christmas Carol runs from the beginning of November through Christmas Eve 2007 at IRT - Indiana Repertory Theatre. Tickets cost between $24 and $44 and can be purchased online from IRT. The holiday tale of Scrooge is told at the IRT theatre located at 140 West Washington Street near downtown holiday lights and carriage rides.
Fort Wayne Indiana sparkles with the holiday fundraiser Festival of Trees at the historic Embassy Theater with beautifully decorated trees filling its lobby and the lobby of the Indiana Hotel. This Fort Wayne holiday event kicks off with Night of Lights on Wednesday November 21 from 6 to 9pm coinciding with the downtown holiday lighting ceremony. Breakfast with Santa takes place at Macy's on Thanksgiving weekend from 9:30 to 11am Saturday and Sunday mornings. Festival of Trees tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 12 and under.
Indiana's largest holiday parade is the Lafayette-West Lafayette Christmas Parade. This Indiana Christmas parade begins at 2pm on Sunday December 2, 2007 at Ninth and Main Streets and ending at Levee Plaza. Parking garages throughout the area are free on the day of the Lafayette-West Lafayette Christmas Parade which includes festive floats, marching bands, Santa Claus, and more.
