Holliston Historical Society Harvest Fair. For 27 years the Holliston Historical Society has been sponsoring an annual antiques and crafts fair which attracts some of the best artisans and antique dealers in the region , as well as lots of area families and crafts aficionados. This years even will be held on Sunday September 23, 2007 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with a rain date of Sept. 30.
What is intriguing, especially for first time attendees is that the Holliston Historical Society Harvest Fair is held on the grounds of the Asa Whiting House . The House stands on the property used for the construction of the first home ever built in Holliston. The present home was built by Asa Whiting in 1812 and stands as a reminder of the long history of Holliston, MA . Located some 25 miles west of Boston, this small New England town was incorporated in 1724 and has maintained its small town heritage since then.
Folks gather at the Holliston Historical Society Harvest Fair to browse the excellent hand made New England crafts and visit with antique dealers . There is a silent auction featuring goods and services donated for the occasion by area businesses. Kids can enjoy activities prepared just for them, the headliner being pony rides on the grounds . In the afternoon tours of the Asa Whiting House are provided. Throughout the fair hungry visitors can get a bite to eat in the historic Whiting barn where food is on sale.
All proceeds from the Holliston Historical Society Harvest Fair go to support the ongoing work of the society. This is the main fund raising option used by the society during the year and support from locals and passers by is much appreciated.
