Guide to Michigan Haunted Houses

From Houses of Terror to Aslyums

JM Van Horn
When it comes to haunted houses, there is no better place to be than in Michigan. Here are four must visit haunted house attractions that will be sure to keep you on your toes until you are left running for the exit.

Erebus

In 2000, the gates of Hell were opened up to visitors who dare take the chance to walk through four floors of terror in Erebus. Located in Pontiac, Michigan, Erebus has been scaring onlookers ever since.

If you dare to visit, make sure to have your tennis shoes on because in 2006, Erebus was entered in the Guinness World Book of Records as the World's Largest Walk-Through Haunted Attraction.

At the door tickets for Erebus will cost you $22 at the door, but if you purchase them online or sign up for the Erebus' mailing list, then you can save some money on your admission.

The Niles Haunted House

No trip would be complete to Michigan haunted houses without a visit to the Niles Haunted House. For 2009 they are offering a wide variety of attractions for their visitors, like the Redneck Revenge or the Field of Screams With manic Maze.

Though they intend to offer you a fright for the night, the folks at the Niles Haunted House intend to do so without the gore normally associated with haunted house attractions.

When it comes to pricing, you can purchase individual ranging from $3 to $10, depending on which horror you want to visit. Or you can save yourself a few bucks and purchase combo package, if you dare.

As an added bonus, this haunted house attraction donated over $100,000 in 2008 to local charities. Find out more about this Michigan haunted house attraction at their website, http://www.haunted.org/.

Night Stalkers Haunted House

Looking for the creature that go bump in the night? Look no further than the Night Stalkers Haunted House, located in Millington, Michigan. This indoor haunted house attraction features two stories of twists and turns ensuring you cross paths with the terrors that wanders the halls.

As an added twist, during the first two Sundays in October, groups of victims will be going through the haunted house with only one glow stick. My advice, make sure who ever holds it has a tight grip on it.

The costs of tickets are $ 13 if you are over 13 years of age and $8 for children 8 to 12 years old. If you want to shell out a few extra bucks, you can buy a VIP ticket for $18 and skip the line.

Saint Lucifer's Haunted Asylum

Deemed as a place of evil and haunted, the asylum's doors were closed in 1974 and have not been reopened until now. The only question now is do you dare to enter Saint Lucifer's Haunted Asylum to see if terror does still lurk the halls.

Rated as Flint's top rated haunted house attraction, tickets for Saint Lucifer's Haunted Asylum will cost $13 for general admission or $18 for a VIP ticket.
