WAAL and WBBI are great if you want to hear the same 400-500 classic rock songs day after day after day after day. Their playlists could fit on an MP3 player, with room to spare.
WAAL hasn't changed its core playlist in 15-20 years. Occasionally it will add songs, but thats mostly because 2-3 times a year, they run a weekly program called "Classic Rock from A to Z", and you will hear obscure songs from popular artists, as well as some lesser groups from the 70's and 80's (Trooper, Slade, Jay Ferguson, etc). Response to this program has been encouraging, so I can't figure out why they don't incorporate more songs into their playlist.
WBBI does get into more modern "classic rock", and slightly edgier music (Metallica, Iron Maiden), but (like WAAL), it also sticks to the core groups/songs: Skynyrd, Stones, Who, Rush, Van Halen, Mellencamp, Steve Miller, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Doobies, Boston, Styx, Kansas, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, .38 Special, etc.
A small-medium market like Bi
lets not to forget the public stations 91.5 (jazz and NPR) and 89.3 (NPR and classical). it would be a shame to also not mention the Binghamton University station, on 90.5
