Miami

Improv Comedy Club

Famous comedians and local funny folk come to crack jokes at this posh Coconut Grove comedy club. Located on the third floor of Streets of Mayfair, the club features classy, dark leather chairs and a long, gleaming bar. Classic cocktails and specialty drinks are served, as well as snacks and entrees. Ticket prices vary depending on the act;

Wet Willie's coconut grove

The proximity of this busy, casual bar to the Regal Cinemas makes it a great place for a pre-movie drink. Or better yet, a post-movie drink... maybe two. Outdoor seating on the porch is the best choice for people who like a bird's-eye view of the action. The scene indoors is a bit mellower. Cocktails are blended and dangerously delicious. The menu favors bar food: burgers, sandwiches, and fries. A few quasi-Floridian things are also offered, such as conch fritters and coconut shrimp.

Tobacco Road

The oldest drinking establishment in Miami (established 1912) continues to be a favorite Happy Hour hangout among locals. Located on the outskirts of downtown Miami, this historic landmark attracts both suits and sandals. Follow the narrow path toward the back deck to find a festive mixture of drinkers, diners and dancers. Live bands, with a heavy leans towards the blues, appear weekly. The bar offers delicious chicken wings and daily drink specials.

Tampa

Green Iguana Bar and Grill

Known for its burgers, this restaurant in an historic part of town turns out a variety of casual dining options and serves it all until the wee hours. Seven varieties of burgers served on sourdough buns are available at lunch, which can be enjoyed at a sidewalk table on a fresh sourdough bun. You can order it piece by piece, adding such options as cheddar, feta or Monterey Jack cheese and grilled mushrooms. Music adds to the entertainment of passing crowds at this spot that is a favorite late-night gathering spot for the wee-hour crowd.

It has a sprawling 90,000 sq. ft. casino with over 1,850 of the hottest gaming machines. For guests who want to spend a considerable amount of time in Tampa, the 250-room Tampa hotel would be the ideal spot. Guests can choose from 46 suites with views of the pool or the gardens. Body Rock Spa, the well-equipped workout facility at the hotel, is open daily from 7a-9p. For your convenience, an appointment for a massage is available on the spot. D.G. Yuengling Brewery

D. G. Yuengling likes to say its famed Pottsville, Pennsylvania, brewery is the oldest in America, but it's comparatively new to Tampa. Yuengling arrived here not long ago as an intriguing attraction where you can tour a brewery in action. At the end of the tour comes the best part: a little sampling of the product so laboriously created. For that sampling event, there's a Yuengling Biergarten and a gift shop devoted to things that go hop. Tours are free.

Stand-up comics that have performed here include Al Romero of The Showtime Comedy Club Network and John Knight of Arts & Entertainment's "Evening at the Improv."

Bongo's Beach Bar & Grill

You can leave your bongos at home, and just sit back and enjoy the sun and surf at this open-aired beach bar and grill. Friendly service and people watching are part of the fun as you relax and watch the world go by. Live music makes for a festive atmosphere as the sun slips below the horizon and the nightlife begins. Take a dip in the Gulf, and then pop in here for a drink or a bite; bathing attire is welcomed. Food is casual and simple, but good.
