Guide to Nintendo Wii Accessories

The Best Add-ons for the Wii

William Meeks
The Nintendo Wii has taken the country by storm. Families all over America are plugged in. But what are the most recommended accessories for the Nintendo Wii?

Nintendo Wii Classic Controller

This accessory is very good for players who want to play the latest NES, SNES, Genesis, and Turbo Grafix 16 releases from the Virtual Console as authentically as possible. Featuring a design similar to the original Super Nintendo controller, it adds directional pads and has a firm fit in the palm. It is wired, but hooks directly in to your Wiimote so you aren't tied down to the system.

Wii Charge Station

This docking station can save the average Wii player lots of money on batteries. It holds two Wiimotes and comes with rechargeable batteries and specially designed battery covers. The player simply places the Wiimote into the charger when done playing. This provides two benefits in that it provides a tidy way to store the Wiimote as well as being healthy for the environment by using fewer batteries.

Sports Pack for Nintendo Wii

Perfect for Wii Sports aficionados, this set of three Wiimote holders adds even more realism to the game. Simple place the Wiimote into the baseball bat, golf club, or tennis racket holders and bring the simulation full circle.

Steering Wheel

An essential when Mario Kart comes out in 2008, the steering wheel harkens back to arcade classics like Outrun. The Wiimote sits in the center of the wheel and the user simply grips the wheel and turns it. Perfect for those who find the Wiimote a little unwieldy.

Crossbow

Being released for Christmas 2008, the Wii Cross Bow from Nintendo is an amazing package. The Wiimote and Nun chuck hook right in to the holster which will be suggested for many games coming out in the near future. Luckily, most users won't have to wait to try it out thanks to Legend of Zelda: Crossbow Training, an original game packaged with the crossbow. The Nintendo Crossbow is by far the best Wii accessories to date.

Wiimote Skins

Everybody has heard the stories of the guy who threw his Wiimote through his Plasma TV screen. Nobody wants to be "the guy" in that story. Luckily many independent manufactures have started producing slide-resistant skins to put over the Wiimote and Nunchuck. These skins are duel-purpose in that they help protect various investments while replacing the plain white Wiimote with something that has more personality.
