There is Something for All Activity and Physical Levels to Enjoy

There is nothing like getting outdoors and having some fun. Either enjoying an activity by yourself, or with a group of friends - there is something for everyone. Get out and enjoy our public lands - forests, beaches, parks, and other magnificent shared resources that we have. Here are some suggestions on how to do this:

Walking. An activity that can be done by most anyone involves the simple exercise of walking. There are a variety of walking trails around. Some are maintained by local community groups, while others are maintained by state governments. Either way, walking trails give you a chance to experience "getting back to nature" in a wonderfully relaxing way. Trails are usually well maintained, of different textures (such as gravel, pavement, or grass). Since they are considered walking trails, there usually is not much elevation. Refuges are great places to enjoy a walking trail that also gives you a chance to partake in the habitat.

Hiking. This is taking walking to the next level. Find a natural park, state park, or other nearby site that allows you the chance to explore the great outdoors while getting a good workout. Enjoy our forests this way. Elevation levels differ, and will more than likely be listed in the site's description.

Climbing. This great outdoor activity is for the more physically motivated person. If you are new at this, there are a multitude of outdoor activity businesses who can help you with this.

Volleyball. Why not experience the great outdoors by simply getting together a group of your friends, find a site in a local park, put up a net and start playing volleyball? Most people can play this game and it is a great way to socialize while getting exercise.

Kite flying. Here is a fun activity that anyone can do. Find a beach where there is a lot of room away from cars. Take your kite for a walk and experience the wind in your hair. Get some fresh air and appreciate the outdoors.

Picnics. Picnics are another social activity that can be done to enjoy the great outdoors. Combine one with a volleyball game, or go on a trail walk before or after enjoying your picnic. Everyone loves a picnic. Bring a variety of games to play to keep everyone entertained.

Rafting. For the more adventurous, go on a rafting expedition. There are expeditions of all levels available. From beginners with a tour guide, to nonguided for the more advanced rafter - you will find something that suits your needs. Look in your yellow pages for a local rafting company. Or, go online.

Whatever great outdoor activity you decide to do, get out and do it. There is plenty to see and do, irregardless of what your physical activity level is. Enjoy!
