Create your Invite List:
You will want to invite everyone from your Graduating class. The easiest way to do this is start to spread the word and to start having people forward the information to you. Seek the help of your former classmates. These days there are even easier methods via the internet. There are website such as Classmates.com or Facebook.com where you can easily contact people and have others contact those who aren't members.
Choose a Date:
This is one of the most difficult aspects of the planning process as you will never be able to pick a date that works for everyone. However, do pick a date that will pick a date for the majority of people, but don't continually change to suit certain people who can't make the chosen date. Pick the date and stick to that date. You will want to give everyone sufficient notice so they have time to add the event to their calendars and schedule around it.
Enlist Help:
Make sure you have some help from some of your former classmates. You cannot take on the entire planning process yourself, so choose some responsible people to help you out. You will want to divide up the tasks amongst the group. The more people working together to plan the event the more of a success it will be.
Choose your Location:
You will want to make the location as central as you can so it is easy for people to travel to, or the other option is to hold it in the city of your High School as this often brings back many fond memories.
Costs:
Choose a budget and stick to that budget. You will also want to make sure that you communicate what the costs will be and get the money upfront. This will alleviate some of the stress for collecting money after the fact. When determining costs you will want to take into consideration a variety of things; location, food, drinks, activities, decorations.
Consider Amenities:
It is becoming more and more common for people to hold day events for their Ten Year Reunions so people can bring their kids along. This means you will also want to consider the amenities that much more. You will want to consider what activities to offer for all ages; swimming, golf, beaches, sports, or live entertainment just to name a few.
Send out the Invitations:
As mentioned it is becoming easier to plan events on websites such as Facebook as you can plan the entire event on the website and people can contribute their ideas as well. Another option is to visit www.Evite.com where you can send invites via email. You will want to include all pertinent information on the invitations such as costs, location, dates, activities, etc.
Last but not least, Have Fun! This is a great opportunity to meet up with former classmates and friends, so take advantage of it.
