Guide to Popular Alcoholic Beverages

We all know that alcoholic beverages are favored and sometimes even loved by so many people in our planet. There is nothing wrong with drinking alcoholic beverages occasionally and as a matter of fact sales of alcoholic beverages are allowed in most of the countries in the world. As long as you are eighteen years of age or older (twenty one years of age or older for the USA) you can legally purchase alcoholic beverage or order alcoholic beverages in a bar or a restaurant. People consume alcoholic beverages on holidays like Christmas or New Year and on various special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. However alcoholic beverages that are popular in Japan might not be as popular in Mexico and vise versa.

A lot of countries have alcoholic beverages that are some what historical to their culture. A very good example is relationship between Tequila alcoholic beverage and Mexico. Mexico is the historical homeland of Tequila and creator of this great agave plant based alcoholic beverage. Another example is Sake alcoholic beverage, which originated in Japan and is based on rice. And finally, another well know example is Vodka alcoholic beverage. Vodka is widely associated with Russia and even considered to be originated there hundreds of years ago. However origins of Vodka are highly speculative. And it should be noted that there are historical evidences of Vodka being originated in Poland and Ukraine.

There are also some alcoholic beverages that are not really associated with any particular country. For example alcoholic beverages like wine, rum, brandy, whisky or beer. All those great alcoholic beverages have been produced around the world for hundreds and sometimes even thousands of years and it is extremely difficult for experts to tell exact historical origins of those alcoholic beverages. However their popularly is outstanding and can not even be compared to other alcoholic beverages. After all beer is the third most popular drink overall after water and tea. A lot of countries produce beer but most famous beer companies are from Germany, Ireland, Austria, Mexico, Japan and the USA. Wine is also produced by a lot of countries however most famous wine companies are from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina and the USA. As far as rum, majority of the world's rum production occurs in and around the Caribbean and in several South American countries, such as Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Guyana and Brazil. Majority of the whisky is produced by Canada, Ireland, Scotland and the USA. Brandy is produced by a lot of countries however France produces the most famous varieties of brandy including Cognac and Armagnac.

There are a lot of alcoholic beverages that were historically originated in a particular country just like Sake or Tequila. However some of them might to be as popular and famous worldwide like Sake or Tequila are. For example a Scandinavian alcoholic beverage called Akvavit. Akvavit, just like vodka, is distilled from either grain or potatoes. However it is flavored with various herbs such as caraway seeds, anise, dill, fennel and coriander. It is a very popular alcoholic beverage in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Another less know alcoholic beverage that originates in Brazil is Cachaca. Cachaca is the most popular distilled alcoholic beverage is Brazil. Outside Brazil Cachaca is used as a very popular cocktail ingredient. Cachaca is made from sugarcane juice and is very close to rum. South Korea is a homeland to a very old alcoholic beverage called Soju. Soju is a distilled alcoholic beverage traditionally made from rice and sometimes other starches like potatoes, wheat or barley. Soju is very popular in South Korea and it makes it's way to markets worldwide.

There are many different alcoholic beverages around the world. Most of them share the same ingredients, however there is always a slight difference in production process that makes all alcoholic beverages differ from each other. Countries that are located in Caribbean or South America tend to make their alcoholic beverages from tropical vegetables and fruits that grow particularly in their own region. While countries that are located in Asia or Europe tend to tend to make their alcoholic beverages from grains, vegetables and fruits that grow particularly in their own region. It is always interesting to see how many different alcoholic beverages there are on the market from various parts of the world. All of those alcoholic beverages bring special ingredients and uniqueness of their cultures. However it is always very important to drink alcoholic beverages in moderation. No matter how tasty and great those beverages are.
