Guide to Removing Permanent Markers

So your child gets one of your permanent markers and writes on your wall and you have a panic attack. Don't worry, calm down! There are ways to remove the marks from your wall. We have all been there and done that with our own children and I know first hand that it will put you in a very bad mood. It sure isn't something you laugh at, that's for sure. In this guide, I will show you how to remove permanent marker marks. So, before you panic, read this guide for help.

Milk

Milk is great for marker in clothes. If you are trying to get a permanent marker out of clothes, use the milk technique. It may take you a gallon of milk to use this technique though. You will need to pour some milk in a bowl and soak the item in the milk overnight or at least for five hours. Once it has soaked, get an old toothbrush or some kind of brush with bristles and dip the brush in the milk. Then rub the stain until the stain is gone. Once the stain is gone, wash the material in the washer machine.

White Vinegar

The white vinegar technique is best used on carpet. You will need to mix vinegar and water together. Whatever you mix it in will need to be half water and the other half vinegar. Then use a kitchen sponge or rag and dip it in the solution. Next, you will need to rub the stain until it comes out. You can also use this method on walls. Do the same thing except use a rag to wipe the walls. If you notice that the paint is starting to come off, stop using this method.

Baking Soda

Baking soda can be used for the walls, material, furniture or carpet. You will need to take an old toothbrush or something like it and sprinkle the baking soda on the stain. Then use the brush to scrub the baking soda into the stain. Once the stain is gone, you can clean up the baking soda with a rag or vacuum it up.

Fingernail Polish Remover

Another great solution is fingernail polish remover. Pour a little bit of the remover in a bowl and dip a rag in the solution. Then rub the marker stain until it comes out.

So, if you have marker stains on your furniture, walls or clothes, try the techniques above and you should be able to take it right out. There is nothing worse than having a newly painted wall and someone marks on it with a marker, but with these techniques, you can quickly get it out.
