Guide for Single Attack Ice/Lighting Magicians in Maple Story
Maple Story Global Guide for Ice Mages with Cold Beam
In Maple Story, single attack Ice/Lightning Magicians are good for maplers who want money in the bank and who want powerful spells. The leveling rate is not as fast as for mob killers, and this route does take a lot of time and patience.
Once you reach level 30 and choose your job, you get one skill point. This point should go into Teleport, as even one point will help your leveling. After this skill point distribution is simple: Max Cold Beam, MP Eater, Meditation and finally Teleport. After this you have the choice between Thunder Bolt and Slow, which one you choose is really up to you. If you plan on maxing Ice Strike in the 3rd Job you should skip Thunder Bolt and rather max out Slow. Otherwise Thunder Bolt is a good spell to have, but if maxed out late in the game it's more useless then helpful. Pure Ice mages in Maple Story usually skip Thunder Bolt completely, because once you get Ice Strike in Maple Story's third job it becomes completely obsolete.
With this skill point distribution you will be able to get money quickly, although leveling is boring and longsome. Fire Boars and Red Drakes are the two maps you will be training on the most, and when your MP Eater is maxed you'll hardly need to supply yourself with MP as these Maple Story monsters give you very much back.
You have several advantages by going this route. You will get a lot of Mesos and nice equipment from the monsters that you kill. You will also be able to afford good scrolls so you'll be doing high damages. Parties are usually always welcoming towards an ice mage that can freeze monsters, so you can easily make new friends.
As long as you are patient, and stay in a good spot for long periods of time you will get a very strong and powerful Maple Story character. Ice Mages get great but expensive skills in the third job as well, so to save up money before level 70 is a very good idea. However, if you do have Mesos saved up then the easier route is to go with Thunder Bolt and not be pure Ice, as your leveling will be more exciting and fun.
