Guide to Skiing in the Pocono Mountains

The Pocono Mountains have long been a popular tourist destination renowned by many for their remarkable ski slopes. Located throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, these mountains have hosted some of the world's best skiers as well as some of the largest and most popular winter sports events. If you're into outdoor winter activities, the Poconos may just be the ideal vacation spot for you and your family.

Alpine

Alpine Mountain Ski and Ride Center is located on Route 447 in Analomink, Pennsylvania. The venue features day and night skiing from mid-November to mid-March, along with plenty of other fun outdoor activities. Skiing lessons for all ages are also available, and there are plenty of discounts you can take advantage of to make the Alpine Mountain Ski and Ride Center even more affordable.

Big Boulder

Big Boulder Ski Area is located on Lake Drive in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania. They are open seasonally from December through March and offer discounts for senior citizens, the military and large groups.

Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain Ski Area is located at 1660 Blue Mountain Drive in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. This venue features 34 separate trails, including Pennsylvania's highest vertical. High-speed lifts mean less time riding to the top and more time spent traversing slopes in the Poconos. Open from December until April 1st, Blue Mountain Ski Area is the ideal venue for winter fun late in the season.

Camelback

Camelback Ski Area, also known as Camelback Mountain Resort is located at 1 Camelback Road in Tannserville, Pennsylvania. Established nearly 50 years ago, Camelback Ski Area boasts acres of skiable trails and high-speed lifts. Discounts are available for senior citizens, AAA members, members of the military, groups, and children ages 12 and under.

Shawnee

Shawnee Mountain is located on Hollow Road in Delaware, Pennsylvania. This venue features 125 acres of skiable terrain, more than 20 trails, and plenty of other activities and attractions. The mountain is open from December to March from 9 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 10 PM on weekends.

Ski Big

Ski Big Bear is located at 196 Karl Hope Boulevard in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania. The venue features 18 trails, 6 ski lifts and a snow sports school where you can learn the ropes. Equipment rentals are also available at Ski Big Bear.

Tanglewood

Tanglewood Ski Area is located at 192 Paper Birch in South Tafton, Pennsylvania. With a great view of Lake Wallenpaupack, Tanglewood Ski Area offers 8 great trails for family skiing. A PSIA certified on-site ski school is a great way for beginners to get started in the world of skiing.
