Guide to St. Patrick's Day 2009 Las Vegas Events and Parties

Em Robbins
St. Patrick's day is a fun day for everyone. Kids get to pinch each other, adults get to drink green beer, and Las Vegas adults get to party like crazy at a ton of different St. Patrick's day parties, concerts, and fun events. Because of the wide variety of cheap and low-cost events, Las Vegas is the perfect destination for a group of partiers looking to live it up, whether on or off the Las Vegas strip. Vegas is a great place to party cheap both on and off-season, and is the ultimate destination for St. Patrick's Day, unless you can afford to go to Ireland.

The biggest event going on in Las Vegas during the 2009 St. Patrick's Day celebration will be in grand Old Vegas, at Fremont Street. The Fremont Street Experience is located at 425 Fremont St, Las Vegas, NV and offers free admission, because it's outside, movies on the largest screen in the world, and free live music, March 15-17.

Las Vegas is offering the following fun, inexpensive party opportunities for visitors on St. Patrick's Day in March of 2009: Live music and free beer will be available at the Three Angry Wives Pub, which is located at 8820 W Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. An awesome U2 cover band called Joshua Tree will be performing U2 songs at J.C. Wooloughan's Irish Pub, located at 221 N Rampart Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. Music will be out on the patio. At McMullan's Irish Pub, there will be live St. Patrick's Day themed music and food special abound throughout the night. McMullan's is at 4650 W Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas, NV.

If you can afford a little more, check out The Joint at the Hard Rock located at 4455 Paradise Rd, in Las Vegas, NV. There, you can see the Young Dubliners with The Fenians, Brother and Wild Celts on March 16. Tickets start at $22.

If you're heading to Reno, not Vegas, there will also be a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser for the Sons and Daughters of Erin in Reno, NV. on Saturday Evening March 14th, beginning at 6:00 pm in the Grand Ballroom of The Atlantis Hotel & Casino Resort.

Barack Obama recently chastized our bailout-receiving banking organizations for planning trips to Las Vegas with taxpayer money, and I don't blame him. Vegas is a place that has many conventions and conducts a lot of business, but in the beginning and the end, Vegas was born as a party town. However, with all the economic woes, Vegas really is a great place to visit for St. Patrick's day because if you go to the Las Vegas St. Patrick's day events which have a low cover charge, or no cover charge, you can save money on your trip and still have a great time.
