Guide to Sticking to Your Budget when Holiday Shopping

C.B.
The days counting down till Christmas are getting shorter and shorter. All of the stores you've visited at your local mall are probably having huge Christmas sales, and in the ad's you'll see lot's of sales on Christmas items, gifts, decorations, etc. Chances is, skimming through your newspaper ad's or visiting your local mall- you are most likely to find a good deal on something you want to buy for someone for Christmas. It might be a "Good" deal, but are you certain it's the best? Here's 5 important things to remember when looking for the best price this Holiday.

Can I find it somewhere else?

Just because the item you're looking to buy is advertised at a certain low price in an ad- doesn't mean that it's necessarily the greatest price in the world. Also consider that things go out of stock, and when they do- always have a Plan B on where to find the same item for a decent price. If you've seen the movie, "Jingle All The Way", you'll see that people go crazy when things go out of stock, and will pay pretty much any price to find that item at another store. This is why it's important to make sure that you skim through the ads. When writing your Christmas shopping list, write down the item you're looking for- and the best prices. Find at least 3 applicable stores to purchase the item at, and if the cheapest price fails- you've got two more stores to visit.

Compare.

Once you see something on sale at a cheap price from one of your favorite stores- First instinct is to buy it. Not so fast- If you do this a lot, you're going to end up not saving as much money as you could. Saving money is one of everybody's goals when it comes to Christmas shopping. Look around before buying. I always hate paying $100 for something, and seeing it at another store for about $75. Even the simplest difference makes me feel like I've been ripped off. This is why it's important to see how much the same item costs at many different stores.

Shop Online.

Not only is the internet useful for comparing prices- but the internet's a great place to find amazing deals and prices on any item you might be looking for. You'll find many deals any percentage off of the regular retail price.

Shop Ahead Of Time.

Sometimes shopping ahead of time can save you a lot of money, and time as well. It will also save you the hassle of waiting in long lines, the item being sold out, and crowded stores. A few weeks just right before Christmas, stores large or small send out ads in your Sunday newspaper, advertising prices for the holidays. Sometimes these prices aren't the greatest- You really have to watch them. Just because it's the advertised price for the season doesn't mean that it's the cheapest deal on the advertised item. Sales vary throughout the year, but around Christmas time is when the "Sale prices" bump up just a little bit higher than a sale price would normally be. When Christmas shopping, most of us are on a budget, so the words "SALE" always catch our eyes.

Set a limit on how much money you are willing to spend on a certain item, or person.

This is important to remember when shopping for anyone, or any season. This tip definitely comes in handy around Christmas time. The joy of giving our Husband, Wife, Children, friends, and family the best gift ever may not cost exactly how much you wanting to pay for it. In most cases, you'll end up spending more. This is why it's ideal to set an amount on what you're going to spend on them, and try to find them a gift(s) within that range. You can always find a great gift within any range of money, you've just got to look for them!
