Guide to a Summer Detox Diet

A good detox is a great start to getting a nice summer body. Summer is a great time of year to go ahead and start a detox because a lot of detox foods are refreshing fruits and vegetables that are mostly made up of water. The following information will guide you to detox yourself this summer.

1) Flush your system of toxins. There are many pricey commercial products out there that will promise you the world but save your money and buy some Bentonite clay for about $5. Bentonite clay is a volcanic clay that binds to toxins and passes through the system for removal. Bentonite is the real deal and is used in the production of wine as a way of clearing unwanted debris for a clear wine. Take 1/2 a teaspoon once a day for a week. Bentonite will also bind with vitamins so make sure to take a multivitamin and space the dosage out as far as possible from when you took the Bentonite. This stuff isn't easy to find in stores so I suggest buying it online, I bought mine from "Now Foods" you can also find it on Amazon.

2) Eat foods that are easy to digest. Vegetables should be the main source of food with some fruits to satisfy your sweet tooth, mix in some seeds and nuts to get your beneficial fats and protein. NO PACKAGED FOODS! NO FAST FOOD! ONLY EAT UNPROCESSED FOODS FROM NATURE! If you see a product in the store that says "all natural" and it isn't in the natural form from nature then it's not natural enough.

3) Limit your drinking options to room temperature water and hot tea. Why room temperature water? Cold water slows down digestion because the body must warm the water to use it and this requires energy and attention that could be used on other digestive operations. A detox is about getting rid of waste so the more efficiently our bodies run the more waste our bodies can remove.

4) Keep busy. Food tastes good and a detox is hard but it's a lot easier if you don't have time to sit and think about all the great foods you can't have.

5) Eat, don't worry about over eating, it's ok as long as you are eating mostly vegetables to fruit ratio of 2-1. Treat yourself to some great tasting HOMEMADE smoothies. I must stress that they are HOME MADE because commercial places like "Jamba Juice" use flavor enhancers that are filled with sugar.

I can't write this in the third person... I just can't. To do so would make me feel like a douche big enough to accommodate Madonna. My articles are a change of pace from what you can expect anywhere else. M...  View profile
