Guide to Throwing an Awesome Karaoke Party

You know what I've learned about Karaoke? The MORE the merrier! The more out-of-control, party goers you have in the spot, the more live your karaoke party will be! Music is one of the basic joys of life that bind us together to sing, laugh, cry and reflect in memory. The fun in karaoke is judging whether the person who is getting up to sing actually has the talent to pull the song off. Not everyone is into karaoke, but it is your job to win those people over with your party. This article gives you a first rate guide to hosting a karaoke event that no one will ever forget!

Prepare with Precision: No one wants to go to a party that has chaos at every turn. Check your karaoke equipment, hire a reliable DJ and bartender, make sure the decorations are not falling down, and keep all the festivities on time! People can become disappointed quickly if they see that your party is not organized well.

Location: Where the party will be held is important for a number of reasons. If you are holding an event like this at home, you run the risk of abusing the ears and gaining the dislike of your neighbors and we don't want that. Therefore, hold the event at a local bar or club. This way, you maintain good graces in the area you reside. Be sure that the club has an area with a small stage so that the singing can take place in a designated spot.

Finding a local club to host the event takes preparation. However, if your networking skills are up to par, then it could be relatively easy. Find a dependable spot that is popular, safe, and conveniently located in the heart of town.

Theme: One way to liven up the spot and draw many people to your party is to host it around a theme. Since American Idol is so popular these days, it is only fitting to have a party revolved around this competition and watch how many people go for the crown! Have three people dressed as Simon, Paula and Randy to pose as the judges. Go all out because using your imagination is where the fun begins. Remember that people are always more likely to go all out if they are given good enough reason to do so. Bring a camera around and treat party-goers like starlets for the night or give away awesome prizes to the most talented singer and let the audience decide.

Drinks: What's a karaoke party without the liquor? You didn't really think people would go up and make a fool of themselves stone cold sober did you? A few would, but not the majority. For this reason, keep the bar stocked with a nice variation of liquors. For those on the conservative side, stock water, tea, and sodas to suit their needs.

Food: All this singing makes people hungry, so do not starve the party goers! Make sure your refreshment section is organized in a way that will keep any mess from hitting the dance floor. Arrange garbage cans at the four corners and check on them periodically. Remember: The food is not the main attraction, so do not make buffets.

Music: Oh yeah! Let's not forget the reason we came to party! The music is without a doubt one of most vital tools in karaoke. You want to have a range of musical selections because people have their own personalized interests in music. Be fair to everyone and it will pay off in the end.

Be a Great Host: What is a great host? Someone who accommodates their audience and shows everyone a good time. Do not neglect your party. You want to make sure people never forget the party and certainly never forget you.
