If you live in the California coastal area and would like to spice up your landscape with some native plants, then check out my top five coastal native plants below. Adding one or more of these plants will not only make your landscape pleasant to look at, but will also benefit the soil and the areas around it.

Grindelia Sticta Venulos

This plant offers excellent ground cover for your coastal bluff area. It produces beautiful yellow foliage, like a mini sunflower. If you are planting a coastal or slope garden, it will add a nice color that people will admire. Every few weeks, washing off the plant is an excellent way to keep it's foliage bright. You can purchase these online at www.laspilitas.com for $8 a gallon up to fifteen gallons for $80.

Achillea Mllefolium Aenicola

This plant grows along the coastal bluffs or sand pits. It grows well in clay areas, high traffic areas, and by the salty ocean. The green leaves grow about an inch, while the beautiful white flowers grow about 2 inches. Adding this to your coastal landscape makes a nice spectical for all to see. It doesn't need maintenance, as it sustains almost all types of environments along the coast. You can also purchase this plant at www.laspilitas.com for $8 a gallon.

Aquilegia Pubescens

This plant grows upright to about 3 feet and can produce up to 3 inch flowers. The star shaped yellow flower is an excellent addition to your garden. It can be planted in a partly shaded area and loves moist areas. It grows great in most all areas of California. You can view and purchase this plant at www.laspilitas.com for $8 a gallon.

Arabis Pulchra Gracilis - Beautiful Rockcress

This plant is an excellent addition to a rock garden. It produces a tall plant with purple flowers at it's top. This perennial grows to about 3 ft tall. You can view and purchase this plant at www.laspilitas.com for $8 per gallon.

Arctostaphylos Densiflora Howard McMinn Manzanita

This plant is a beautiful purple flowering hedge type plant. It doesn't like to be overly watered, but can be about 10 ft away from a watery area so that it can absorb the water from there. It looks great between houses, in the middle of the yard, or in a business landscape. You can purchase this plant at www.laspilitas.com for $8 per gallon.
