PDF is the abbreviation for Portable Document Format. This is a form of file that enables users to make electronic documents using any software used for print media or word processing. The document that is made into PDF can be shared with others, which is an advantage because other users can open and read the document if they receive it.

Here is how PDF files are being created.

Adobe Systems developed PDF Files in order to allow people using multiple systems for word processing to share finished files with each other. This has now become a common file format in which users who are using different types of word processing software can not open and read files even if there software are not compatible with each other.

The end user's preferred program in opening files is not a hindrance in receiving and opening PDF files. End user's may prefer to use Microsoft or open source, of Corel word processor in creating his document, then saving the document in PDF file will still enable the recipient of the file to open and read it.

A user may also use the Adobe suite where he can make his document without difficulty using the Adobe software. The document done can then be shared with others and the receiver will only have to download for free the Adobe Reader in order to be able to open the received file.

A very good advantage of using a PDF file in sending electronic files is that this format is locked and editing is not possible. The user is worry free because he knows that the document that he has shared cannot be altered by anyone. This also gives the maker of the file the full authority to gain full control of the documents even if these were already distributed.

Now days, there are available electronic writing software that can enable users to convert files like text documents, spreadsheets and any other document into a PDF file. Although, some of these software programs are not as good as the Acrobat in terms of features.
