Guide to Uninstall Norton AntiVirus Software from Your Computer

Chris Matier
There are over 10,000 known computer viruses. Everyday, there are thousands of infections. In this modern age, there is absolutely no excuse for not running some sort of virus scan and anti-virus software on your computer. If you choose not to, you are risking major hardware failure and data loss. One leading anti-virus suite is the Norton AntiVirus Suite.

With all of the threats out there, why would you want to uninstall Norton Antivirus? Firstly, there are other antivirus programs out there, some of which are even free. Secondly, Norton AntiVirus can have substantial conflicts with other programs or hardware. Lastly, at times, Norton AntiVirus can bog down a system because of log files and errors and need to be installed.

If you find yourself in any of these situations and need to uninstall the Norton AntiVirus suite, then follow this simple guide. Just a warning for you, make sure to install some antivirus software on your computer before you browse the internet or download or install software.

Removal though the Add or Remove Program Control Panel:

1) Click on Start, then on Control Panel.
2) Double-click on Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista)
3) Find the Norton or Symantec A product you currently have installed, for example, Double Click on it.
4) You will then be prompted to modify your current Norton Installation. Choose to "Remove All"
5) Your program will be removed at this point. After removal, you will be prompted to reboot your computer; do this.

Removal using the Norton Removal Tool

There are instances when the automatic removal of Norton AntiVirus products will fail. If this happens, you will need the Norton Tool. To use the Norton Removal Tool, follow these instructions:

1) Browse to: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe to download the Norton removal tool. When prompted, save the file to your desktop.
2) Close all Norton or Symantec Applications that you are currently running. Double-click on Norton_Removal_Tool.exe on your desktop to launch the program. Windows Vista users will need to either be logged in as an administrator, or run the program as administrator to continue.
3)After the tool finishes, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Do this.
4) Once your computer restarts, your Norton products will be uninstalled.

There are a number of reason to uninstall Norton AntiVirus, but there is absolutely no reason to run your computer without some sort of anti-virus. Before you continue onto any other computer tasks, make sure you have some sort of antivirus installed.

I have ISP from my Provider; I don't need anymore ISP's. When I start removing, Immideately
Norton put this at my Screen with a big sign board in Yellow colour and disrepting my emails.
If Norton is not to stop this illegal activity on my PC, I need to contact the legal authorities to
complain about this matter. So please stop this illegal activity. I am giving a warning.
