Have a few wrinkles? Not ready to go under the knife? Well, maybe acupuncture for facial rejuvenation is for you! What is acupuncture? To make it simple, acupuncture is sticking needles into certain parts of the body in order to get the energy flowing and relive pain. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice. It has been around for thousands of years. If people are still using it today it must be good, right? Acupuncture can be used for numerous ailments and conditions, one of them being aging. If you have mild to moderate wrinkles you may be able to lessen them through acupuncture. Using acupuncture for facial rejuvenation also helps to get the energy flowing to the skin. This supplies more oxygen to the skin thus causing it to become more youthful.
What will your facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatment be like? It depends on the practitioner. A good practitioner will wash your face with a high quality cleanser. They may also apply a mask. After this is done they will place the needles in certain areas of the face. The needles will stay in around 20 to 30 minutes. After the needles are removed they may then massage your face with a good moisturizer.
Will the needles hurt? For most people the answer is no! When I had my acupuncture done for the first time it didn't hurt a bit. It may feel a little bit funny at times but not painful. If you have a severe phobia of needles you may not be able to do the acupuncture treatment. I am somewhat afraid of needles and I had no problems with the treatment. It looks much worse than it feels!
Will I see significant results? This depends on your skin. Some people may achieve a lot of results. Others may not see as much change. If you have very deep wrinkles then you may need to consider another type of treatment. For most skin with mild to medium wrinkles you will see significant change over time. This is not an overnight solution. You will need to go once a week for about two months to see noticeable changes. After that you should be able to go for a once a month "maintenance" treatment.
How much will all this cost? Obviously, different acupuncturists charge different rates. The average price for a good practitioner is around $50 to $100 per treatment. A bit pricey but worth it if you really want to see less wrinkles. Sometimes you can get a better deal if you buy a package of treatments. Make sure that your acupuncturist is licensed. Check around and see if you know anyone who can recommend a good acupuncturist.
If you really want to see a drastic change in your face then you may need to seek out a good plastic surgeon. However, if you are basically happy with your skin and just want to appear more youthful then an acupuncturist may be the way to go. Whatever you choose try to remember that aging is a normal process. We all go through it. Try not to get down on yourself because of a few wrinkles but it can't hurt to try to look your best!
