Guide to Using Toast Titanium for Your Audio and Music Files

The Mac-based Roxio disc-burning application Toast Titanium is offers a wide variety of features. Aside from its basic optical media-recording capability, it is also popularly used for file conversions, capturing streamed music and audio from other media-playing programs and web browsers, and tagging music files. Installing this program provides you a bundle that includes the Toast 10 Titanium disc-burning software, CD Spin Doctor audio recording software, Disc Cover 2 RE labeling software, GetBackup 2 RE backup software, and DiscCatalogMaker disc cataloging software.



Technical Requirements

Toast Titanium 11, the latest version of this Roxio program as of June 2011, requires at least a Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 operating system, a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray recordable optical drive, at least 800MB of free disk space needed for component installation, and up to 15GB of temporary free disk space during program usage. It also requires the computer to have the native Mac software QuickTime, at least version 7.1. Some features require a broadband Internet connection to maximize the program's features. Although this application is primarily meant for burning and copying discs, it does not allow illegally ripping or copying content that is encrypted or copy-protected.

Disc Types

Toast Titanium is compatible for use in optical media discs CD, DVD, and Blu-ray. When working with audio files, specifically music files, you can burn an audio or data disc or even make a duplicate copy of an existing audio or data disc. This application can create discs in various audio formats including Audio CD, Music DVD, MP3, and Enhanced Audio CD. These wide variety of formats make Toast-burned discs generally compatible with standard media-playing software programs and devices. The program's "Data," "Video," and "Copy" options are also equipped with compressing data feature to fit media files you intend to burn on a single disc.

Special Features

Apart from its basic disc-burning, disc-authoring and conversion capabilities, Toast Titanium has a number of features that you can take advantage of when burning, archiving, and backing up your files. Its "Convert" function can perform both audio and video conversions in a variety of formats. You can easily expand your music library by letting the program automatically capture streaming music and add music title, artist name and album information into your iTunes library. It also provides audiobook conversion features that allow you to conveniently transfer your original audiobook CDs with their individual chapters and pause and resume support into your portable media players. You can also digitize your LPs and tapes without the pop, hiss, and click problems typically encountered when capturing these old media storage containers.
