Celebrate the Great Outdoors Month by taking your family to locations that will guarantee both fun and learning experiences. One great adventure that combines both the bonding experiences between family members and the great outdoors is camping on Cape Hatteras. It will be a great family vacation full of memories and picture taking opportunities.

The Cape Hatteras Natural Seashore provides scenes that are beyond postcard worthiness. The area provides a multitude of adventures for the family. Beyond the beaches of the Outer Banks, in the harbors of the Cape Hatteras Natural Seashore, you will find a variety of birds that live there all year long, making the area a birding hot spot.

What is beautiful is the abundant amount of salt marshes, tidal flats, salt ponds, dunes and beaches full of birds you can only see at this location. It is claimed that over 360 variety of birds call this natural seashore home during certain times of the year, generally in the spring and fall. The family pictures that are taken here will capture the beauty of nature and family togetherness.

Besides being known for its spectacular bird watching, the Cape Hatteras Natural Seashore has a diverse habitat of animals. It is here you will likely spot such animals as the white-tailed deer running through the marshes and if you are lucky, you just might see a few whales. Combine the beautiful nature with the magnificence of wide life and you will have a truly enjoyable experience.

Your family will also learn about history and culture while on vacation. The Cape Hatteras Natural Seashore is our nation's first national seashore. It was established to preserve the unspoiled barrier islands along the North Carolina coastline. The history of the area is rich in history. You and your family can learn about the early Native American who lived in the area and at the same time hear stories of the infamous Blackbeard, who use to plunder the inlet in search of treasure.

Outdoor recreation can also be found in the area. You can enjoy a day trip to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse where searching for seashells is sure to thrill the kids. if that isn't your idea of having fun you can also bring your fishing rod and tackle and enjoy catching a treat from the sea. But one of the best recreational activities you can do is just sit back, relax and enjoy nature at it's finest.

Take in all the history, culture and nature and you will come to find this area will be a place you and your family will treasure for years to come. One of the best experiences you can have is when you actually camp out on the seashore. Sleeping on the barrier islands under the stars, by a campfire is a bonding experience your family will always cherish. Feeling the salty air on your skin as you fall asleep to the crashing waves against the beach is one of the most pleasant way to fall asleep.

I would advise anyone who wants to get away from the daily hustle and grind of taking the family on the traditional vacation to try the Cape Hatteras Natural Seashore. Where else can you camp, hike, fish, learn and explore together as a family? Make your next family vacation a unforgettable experience while learning to enjoy nature's beauty and what it has to offer.
