Guide to Visiting Destin, Florida in the Winter

Stephanie Manning
Winter in Destin? Is there such thing? Florida isn't named the Sunshine State for nothing. It's very rare to find a cold day in Destin. With its mild sun kissed temperatures, Destin is the best place to be during winter months.

Unlike most parts of the country you can still enjoy a beautiful day at the beach, walking strip malls or fishing on Crab Island. All of Destin's wonderful attractions are still open during winter months since the temperatures don't drop to extreme lows. However, if you get a chill from the 50 degree temperatures then you are sure to find plenty of things to do. Destin Commons located south of Mid-Bay Bridge has several stores including Bass Pro, Build-a-Bear, Sharper Image, Victoria Secret, Holly Rock Cafe and Hugs and Hissy Fits. There is also a huge theater called the Rave that plays up to 20 Movies at any single time. You will find plenty of upscale restaurants, live performances and much more at Destin Commons. The winter months are the best time to shop in Destin to find huge saving on Christmas shopping.

Looking for something other than shopping? Wonder down to Destin Harbor. There you will find some of the best fishing tours, snorkel trips, glass bottom boats, charter boats and restaurants. Destin Harbor hosts the largest charter boat fleet in the state of Florida.

If fishing isn't your style, you can stroll the docks and watch the charter boats roll in as the sun sets. Destin Harbor has a beautiful view of a Florida sunset around 5:30pm. After sunset have a wonderful dinner at the ever famous Harbor Docks overlooking the harbor.

Finish the night off with a few drinks and many laughs at the one and only Howl at the Moon.

Howl at the Moon is famous for its Dueling Pianos. There you will find the most talented, piano playing, comics that will give you a run for your money. Howl at the moon is located on the Boardwalk right next to the famous club, The Swamp, owned by MTV. Admission covers both The Swamp and Howl at the Moon.

Once the day is over, take a nice long walk on the beach and enjoy the cool winds and crashing waves while walking back to you condo. Be sure to get well rested because there are thousands of things to do on the next day to include, golfing, Silver Sands Factory Outlet, Big Kauhuna's , jet skiing, water skiing and much more!
