1. You're not the pro you think you are. Put away the wax pot and take baby steps with tweezers instead. The last thing you want to look like is a mangy cat.
2. More is better. Eyebrows that look like lines drawn on by a Sharpie marker are out. Keep in mind not to get tweezer-happy.
3. The most important thing is that your eyebrows should frame your face. Not everybody is going to have Brooke Shield's perfect brows. Look close and see how your eyebrows naturally lay. Are they more round like a comma? Or are they more defined? Whatever your shape is, embrace it and work with what you got. Dont try and force an arch. They'll just end up looking like upside-down Nike checks. You can find your natural shape by putting your finger in the middle of your eyebrow and pull your skin up like you've had too much Botox. There you will be able to see where your shape is and where you need to tweeze to highlight that shape.
4. If you dont think you can manage shaping your own eyebrows, go to a body waxer that actually knows what they're doing. Once they've given you the shape that's right for you, keep it up by tweezing ONLY the hairs that grow back. Don't venture into unknown territory by tweezing what the waxer left alone. They left it alone for a reason.
5. If the color of your eyebrows are really light and barely there, take an eyebrow pencil that's a shade lighter than your hair and LIGHTLY fill in the sparse areas. When doing so, make sure you're not actually coloring on your skin. Use light sweeping motions so you don't look like you actually used a pencil (i.e. the Sharpie marker rule).
6. You should always moisturize after removing any hair. I've seen way too many people look like burn victims because they didn't moisturize their raw skin.
7. Last, but not least, don't let your eyebrows get to the point where you look like Sasquatch before you tweeze again. The sooner you tweeze those new hairs the easier it'll be to keep up with in the long run.
These tips aren't going to make you professionals but they'll give you a little insight on what the professionals are actually thinking. So the next time you get brave and drag out the wax, think twice.
