Guidelines for Online Stores: Having Search Engine Friendly Item Explanations

SEO for Online Stores

Having correct item descriptions that meet the terms of search engine rules is indeed very important. Search engines are not able to read and filter images as of today. The only basis for phrases that will match the phrases used in searches will be the text on your online store, most of which are the product descriptions of the items for sale.

Making sure that you have a good title for each item that is up for sale is the most important factor in writing a product description that is search engine friendly. The title should have the keywords or keyword phrases that would match the words that a buyer would use if one was to search for this product category. If you are putting up a handbag for sale, what details would a person look for during a search for a similar handbag? Use all those words in the product title so that your item will be included in the search results when a buyer looks for such a handbag.

Mention the specific size. It is best to specify the size so the client will know what to expect when the purchased item is delivered. Put a product size description in inches, or centimeters, or mention both to be safe.

Mention the color. Indicate the color or all other color options in the item description.

Statistics show that customers actually use specific colors in their search for items to purchase. If you have a red handbag for sale, mention that in the title or the product description, or better yet, in both texts. Remember to mention all the varieties of colors that you have for sale for each item.

Mention every detail. Texture, material, origin of material and make should be specified. A picture may not be able to provide enough description of the item. It may appear that the texture is rough when it is in fact the opposite in reality. Mention if the product is made from metal, glass, or wood. The smallest of details are important in writing search engine friendly item descriptions. The more information you provide, the more chances it has on coming up on searches and being considered to be purchased.

Give recommendations on how to use the items. Mention all the uses that the product may have. Customers are most likely to buy items that have more uses.

Look at major store descriptions and learn from them and apply the same techniques when you update your product descriptions.
