Released September 21, Latin-Guitar legend Santana's 18th studio album Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time is already becoming another notable record as the album has reached #5 on the Billboard Top 200 for the week of . The 12-track album features guitar renditions of songs such as Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing", The Doors' "Riders on the Storm", and Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water". Several musicians and popular singers from a wide range of musical genres appear on Guitar Heaven including Gavin Rossdale, Joe Cocker, Chris Cornell, Johnny Lang, and many others.

Guitar Heaven helped reunite the forces of Carlos Santana and Arista Records mogul Clive Davis, as both musical geniuses worked together on choosing songs and guest vocalists for each individual track on the album. According to his official website, Santana recently stated the guitar classics were, "...songs done by the da Vincis of our time, legends of the guitar..."

Since his musical career began in 1969, Santana has been under the direction of Record label mogul Clive Davis. At the beginning of his career, Santana was signed to Columbia Records, which was led by Davis. While on Columbia Records, Santana released his debut self-titled album Santana. The album spawned his first major hits including "Evil Ways" and "Jingo". After releasing several additional albums on Columbia Records, Santana changed record labels to Arista Records, reuniting with Clive Davis. In 1999, Santana released his first Arista Records' release Supernatural. The album was an instant success for the guitar legend, as it featured hits including the Latin and R&B-themed track "Maria Maria". Later on that same year, the album spawned another Top 40 hit as it featured the Rob Thomas collaboration "Smooth". Throughout the last decade, Santana released a handful of albums including the most recent 2010 release of Guitar Heaven.
