Guitar Hero 5: Warrior of Rock for XBox 360 Video Game Review
Yet Another Guitar Hero... How Does it Stand Up?
What is new?
The most notable new feature of this game is the Quest Mode. The simple plot of this quest is to save the Demi-god of rock by recruiting various musical talents. Naturally, you accomplish this by playing through some set lists. You get bonuses with different characters which allow you to keep star power practically endlessly, which is actually a lot less fun than it sounds. The quest mode is a bit of a bust overall, but as a small addition it is not so bad.
Quickplay has been revamped in this version however with some great effects. There are challenges specific to each instrument, the ability to go for high scores over your friends, and a character ranking system. You get to skip the songs you don't want to play and go straight to the ones that you do easier than ever, and that is a big improvement for the game.
New songs any good? What else?
The main allure of most new Guitar Heroes are the new songs, but this group features a set list that probably won't appeal to everyone. That having been said, they will appeal to the people who are typically playing the game. Most of the songs are either recent rock hits or 90s classics.
Luckily if these aren't the songs for you, you can import all of your old songs onto the game free of charge. The new guitar that comes with the game is shaped like an axe, but surprisingly is perhaps the most pleasing guitar to date. It feels natural in your hands and is fun to play. Though all guitarists much choose the right guitar for themselves, naturally.

Post a CommentI never really got into the whole Guitar Hero thing. I tried it at Best Buy once and I didn't do so well. I've been meaning to give it another shot though.
Excellent... :o)
