Guitar Hero Workout?

Melissa B
Want to lose weight, improve your memory, possibly get a little smarter math wise, improve your coordination, and rock out to some of your favorite songs? How about trying the Guitar Hero workout!

Okay, I guess I should say a few things before someone jumps the band wagon here. I am not a Doctor, so you should of course ask your Doctor before trying anything this weird or health related. To be fair, I also have no idea what I'm talking about.

So think of this next time when you get bored during your workout, and you can't stay on track, when watching TV or listening to Soulja (Soldier) Boy one million times just doesn't cut it anymore. You need something to keep the excitement in your work out.

My suggestion is to get our your Playstation 2 (or Playstation 3, they have a new version coming out with the drums... but that might be a little dangerous... seriously, don't try it), and your choosing of the Guitar Hero game.

You will also need some exercise equipment, namely a stationary bike (a real one might be dangerous... so don't try that either J ).

Hook up your PS2, plug in your cordless guitar, warm up and jump on the bike. Set the timer for a little longer than your used to, just to give yourself the benefit of the doubt.

Play some of your favorite songs (you know, like 'Mother' or some 'Cherry Pie') on the easy setting while you pedal your way to a skinnier you.

This just could make you smarter as well as loose weight. Rock music is supposed to help you with math, and playing games is supposed to help improve your memory! Not to mention all of this should be a sure fire way to improve your coordination!

Like I said, I'm not an expert, or a Doctor - refer to them if you have questions, I am just a crazy person on a diet, sick of boring work outs.

I whipped out the handy little calorie calculator that I found online and figured out how many calories I burned for a 25 minute 'Guitar Hero Workout.' Turns out to be a grand total of more than 250 calories!

You'll be surprised how fast you can get pedaling trying to keep up with the song subconsciously.

Okay, so maybe it won't be the hottest new trend, but it can be fun to try, and maybe you'll actually accomplish something sitting in front of the TV.

Why do so many people spell the word "lose" incorrectly? I see it constantly. Really annoying.

Now THIS is creative and an example of thinking outside the box when it comes to ideas.

good idea. or you can just jump around like a maniac while you rock out on the guitar. I'm sure that's a workout as well.
