Guitar and Rose

Penny White
The notes of the guitar fall as
softly as the petals from the rose;
drifting, wavering, touching,
a passion awakening,
kept alive by sweet innocence.

The guitar beckons:
Come play me.
The rose pleads:
Twine me in your strings.
They are allowed to grow together,
and the music they create
becomes legend.
