Guitarist Slash Set to Release Solo Album

Slash is best known for playing his Les Paul along side Axel Rose in the 80's rock group Guns and Roses which took the rock world by storm. The former Guns and Roses guitarist and current Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash is set to release his first solo album on April 6th. Slash may take the rock world by storm again with his new album. Slash's solo album features an impressive list of guest artists contributing their talents to the project. In addition to the special guests, Slash is backed by a rhythm section of former Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and former Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese according to Gibson.com.

Guests include Ian Astbury, the former front man for The Cult, Fergie, M Shadows from the rock group Avenged Sevenfold, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, former Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy, Rocco De Luca and Andrew Stockdale from the group Wolfmother. The album also features Limmy Lilmister from Motorhead, superstar Kid Rock, the legendary Iggy Pop, Dave Grohl of Them Crooked Vultures, The Foo Fighters and formerly Nirvana, former Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell, and Ozzy Osbourne. The album also features an appearance by former Guns and Roses band mate Duff McKagan. "Slash did the bulk of the songwriting and arranging for the album, handpicking for each track a guest artist with whom he wanted to collaborate" according to Gibson.

A solo album by Slash and a band would be worth a listen based on Slash's reputation. However, when you add a rock all-star list of guest artists covering so many styles of rock music the album becomes a must have rock album. Slash brings with him the experience of playing in Guns and Roses, Snakepit, and Velvet Revolver. The guitarist also brings the experience of being a sought after session player. Slash uses his experience to co-produce the album with "producing partner Eric Valentine" according to amazon.com. Valentine has produced albums for Queens of the Stone Age, All American Rejects to his credit. Slash plans to tour in support of this album with Myles Kennedy handling the vocal duties. Myles Kennedy appears on two of the albums fourteen tracks. The rest of Slash's touring band would probably be rounded out by the album's rhythm section.

Thanks for the info. Always good to hear that old folks are still making music, but I'll have to pass on this one.
