Gulf Coast Speaks Event Raises Awareness of Obama's Failed Oil Spill Response and What Still Needs to Be Done
From Pensacola to Panama City Residents of the Florida Panhandle Are Angry About the BP Oil Spill
Pensacola, Navarre, Ft. Walton Beach, Destin, FL 32563
United States of America
Conservative and constitutional-leaning organizations like the Panhandle Patriots, a Fort Walton Beach, Florida tea party group, are hosting rallies, protests and a Tea Party picnic between July 22-26 to encourage gulf coast citizens to voice their concerns about the Obama administration's failure to protect the gulf coast from BP's spewing oil.
Left-leaning political pundits like Democratic strategist, James Carville, and Pensacola attorney and environmental activist, Mike Papantonio find themselves in agreement with tea party groups; both sides are unhappy with Obama's failure to protect and clean gulf coast waterways from the spewing oil.
Carville's now famous rant, "We're dying down here," opened the door to a flood of Democrats voicing their unhappiness with the administration's handling of the spewing oil. Pensacola's Papantonio let loose on Obama in an interview with MSNBC's Chris Matthews on July 20, 2010.
Obama's Freefall
When the right and the left come together in agreement, it's time for the President to pay attention to what's happening on the gulf coast. Obama's recent freefall in the polls suggests that Americans, right, left and center, are losing "hope."
The July 20, 2010 Daily Presidential Tracking Poll at Rasmusson Reports states: "Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove." Read the full report here.
Northwest Florida residents from Pensacola, Navarre, Ft. Walton Beach, Destin and Panama City who are unhappy with the Obama administration's failed leadership throughout the BP oil disaster are invited to join the Florida Panhandle Patriots and other local tea party groups for a full weekend of rallies, protests, and a Tea Party Picnic.
The events, focused on voicing concerns over the failed response to the oil disaster are part of a larger five state event coordinated by The Gulf Speaks. This group, led by spokesman Sammy Kershaw, a Louisiana-born musician, is a coalition of concerned citizens from the five gulf states; Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

The organization's website states, "We believe that political agendas and poor leadership are contributing to an environmental and economic disaster of unimaginable proportions. We are average citizens who are taking action on our own. Our objective is to mobilize all citizen based grassroot organizations across the country to work together and pressure both the Federal Government and BP to meet the following demands."
• I demand that YOU work to end all court action seeking to ban offshore drilling. Stop the economic destruction of the Gulf states.
• We must immediately waive the Jones Act. Get every vessel possible into the Gulf.
• We must get all qualified individuals engaged to stop the oil at the source not at the beach.
• You must stop what you are doing now and work to get government agencies out of the way of cleanup efforts. Clear the government red tape.
• Authorities need to hire a qualified crisis coordinator who will: concentrate and prioritize the needs of the Gulf States and will interface with the Government Agencies eliminating conflicts.
• We must use every resource available to remove the oil from the Gulf of Mexico.
• You are the federal government. This oil is on your hands! DO YOUR JOB!
