Gun Control Not Working

For years I have listened to gun control issues from both pro and con sides. Each argument always has some merit in the subtance and uses words and phases to get the reader to agree with the argument they are presenting. While I do not like the idea of having to carry a gun (loaded and ready to fire) with me each place I go, I feel that if you do not, you are inviting someone to make you a victim . Let's face the problem like it really exists. It is a terrible thing to be a victim of any type of aggression, but to be a victim because one person carries a gun and is willing to use it to take something of value from you is a very bad feeling. Some people of these types of crimes never get over having a gun stuck in their face and having their life threatened over stuff.

I know from personal experience that it is an unpleasant event to be shot at and to shoot a person. (I spent a good part of a year in the Marines in Veit Nam) I told myself that when I returned back to the safety and sanity of the good ole USA my gun toting days were over. I followed that rule for over thirty-nine years. Now I have several types of guns and ammunition and I practice weekly on the use of each. i speep with a loaded pistol and shotgun next to my bed nightly. What a shame it has come to that.

We have people in this country that would take those weapons away from me in a minute if they could get the laws passed. If all would go unarmed I would gladly give my weapons up. But, and it is a big but. Those that choose to carry guns illeagally and use them in the commision of a crime will not give them up. They would love to see laws passed to take away the defense of the law abiding person. It would make them safer in their chosen profession. No matter what laws are put in place there will be people to disobey those laws. I can only tell you that we have all read the horror stories in the paper or seen them on the news. I for one think if some lawful citizen would have had a gun and the knowledge of it's use the day that deragned bastard shot all those defensless students at VT he would have killed less young promissing students. I think of the carnage that he perpetrated on those yound people makes me sick to my stomach. My only wish is if I had the power to bring them all back including him and let them watch me as I shot him dead. He and others like him have given me true hatred for violent criminals.

All the arguments stop the second a gun is put in your face by a bad person. If our lawmakers are so sure gun control works why does the Secrect Service walk closely with the President with guns at the ready? I will give up my guns if the President would give up his armed security detail. Why is his life more precious than a student or teacher at any school? Or a clerk at a store?

The state of Illinois has some of the most strigent gun laws in the country, but Chicago has more gun murders than most large cities. Why? Simple the bad guys know the chance of the person they are assualting not being armed is very much in their favor. We live in a very danereous society. If each news paper and news broadcast would show us the daily murders in Amercia every morning by city just like they do the wars we are involved in some minds would be changed quickly. Guns would be flying off the shelf. (Truth is they all ready are. Some stores have run out of ammunition since the recent election results.)

Do not count on the police. They only arrive after the crime has been committed and use that yellow tape to control the scene. They will tell your realativies they are sorry for your loss. Thanks, but I will keep my guns and they can tell the bad guys faimily they are sorry for their loss. This is not my statement but i must say it here. I would rather be judged by twelve than carried by six. Face facts. The USA has some bad people in it. Real bad people. It is not going to get any better with the economy going down the tubes. Get a gun and some ammo and take a safety use class and learn to police yourself.

Somewhere right now in the USA someone has a bad guy sticking a gun in their face to take stuff. Is that someone you? Real gun control is the person hold ing the weapon.
