Gun Control Reduces Crime? Apparently Not!

Last week on 20/20, John Stossel did his myths, lies and down right stupidity segment. He was promoting his new book with the same title.

Gun Control Reduces Crime. Most static sagest other wise, the opposite in fact. The National Academy of Sciences "could not document a single gun regulation that reduced violent crimes or murder"

Because, Criminals do not fallow the law. It only restricts law-biting citizens from having weapons for protection. Don't get me wrong I am all for the Background Checks, Age limits and a Three Day Waiting Period.

I grew up around guns, and I was taught how to use each one in house. I knew they were not toys, since I have seen what they can do early on in life. That is how it should be.

There has been many times when my gun has saved me, just by having it and other people knowing I carried one kept the wilds people under control. I have never had to go as far as pulling it on someone. Most of the time is was in the car out of my reach.

That brings me back to the 20/20 segment. Stossel's interviewed some locked up convicts. The four that were on TV said they would be less likely to rob a house or person if they thought to possible "victim" had a gun. They said they even feared an armed victim more then the police.

It makes a lot of sense; your average robber is not a murderer. Nor does the robber want to get shot or die for a few hundred dollars worth of stuff. But, if they are willing to go that far isn't it better for you to have a gun.

I remember a news story I heard a while back about a woman working in a grocery store deli. The woman ex-boyfriend came in to the store, stabbing the woman. Another customer shot the man saving the woman. The hero of this story had a concealed weapons permit and was not charged with anything. I believe the man was in his 70's. A perfect example of why people should be allowed to carry concealed guns. Provided they get a permit, not every one should be packing.

There is a town, Kennesaw Georgia, that by law every household must have a firearm. It is not enforced, but plenty of people living there do have guns. Stosses' talked too few of Kennesaw's residents; they all agree it is a peaceful place to live. "It make's people think twice" one woman said. Yes, yes it does.

I just hope lawmakers will hear this and think about all these non-sense laws that stop Americans from protecting themselves. They should only restrict non-citizens and crazy people.

A short biography huh, well none of my stories are short and most people wouldn't believe them anyways. I had some crazy stuff happen to me. I'm a Cha Cha Guide, blogger, freelance writer/web designer,...  View profile

Gun control is the only solution. Only by creating new laws which impede the freedom of law-abiding citizens will criminals suddenly decide that they should obey the law. Murders and other gun related crimes would never happen if criminals knew that it was against the law to obtain guns. Oh wait...that's just stupid.

Niki, You go girl, I feel exactly the same way.

Good Job Niki. Gun laws only effect the law abiding. By definiton criminals are not law abiding, but you can explain that to the anti-gun nuts a million times, and they just don't get it.
