Bathe regularly: Let's face it. BO (Body Oder) is a turn off to anyone (male or female), so bathing regularly on a daily basis should be a given, yet sometimes for whatever reason, this basic hygiene practice can be overlooked. Just do it, and on a regular daily basis. Shampoo your hair and wash your entire body, and for god's sakes clean under your finger nails, and wash behind your ears. For those special occasions it wont hurt you to shower or bathe twice in one day, the second time, right before you head out for a night of socializing.
Deodorant: Okay guys, just because you bathe on a regular basis doest really mean that you'll "stay fresh all day (or all night) long," so consider using some deodorant. Choose a deodorant as apposed to antiperspirant because a deodorant will allow you to continue to sweat, while an antiperspirant will try to retard or eliminate sweating. Believe it or not, your under arms are a pretty delicate area on your body. There's a collection of nerves bundled up under that sweaty smelly area, and your skin is very porous there for a reason, to help cool the body, but it can work to your disadvantage as well. Antiperspirant wont just stay on top of your skin, it will sink down in, and may cause dry mouth and eyes. Having a dry, sticky mouth and tongue, and red itchy eyes are not the two first things you want to deal with when you're trying to make a first-time good impression.
Cologne: Women do like a man that smells good, but when applying cologne "go easy, less is more" in this department. Regardless of whatever cologne you prefer to ware, use just a little less. You don't want your cologne to precede you everywhere you go. In fact, the experience you're trying to create, is to let your cologne mix with your personal body chemistry, to give you a unique, appealing scent, so that when a woman passes close or near to you, they'll notice the scent, but not be knocked in the schnoz with it.
Brush your teeth and tongue: Many women have noted the two things they notice first about men are their eyes, and smile. Your teeth don't have to be straight or perfect, BUT, they do need to be clean, and well cared for. Women do pay close attention to this detail, whether they tell you or not. "Brush my tongue?" YES, brush your tongue. Aside from not cleaning your teeth and letting food rot and fester there, your tongue is the primary place that bacteria collects. This creates bad breath. So brush your teeth AND tongue, to clean out all the bad nasties. In this case, we're striving for better/good breath, but brushing everything on a regular basis (at least twice a day) will promote better oral/dental health in general.
Mouth wash, breath strips, breath mints, and gum: The sad fact about all of these bad breath stopgap remedies is that they all pretty much only "cover up" bad breath, so the result most times is going to be "not so bad breath," but there's still some lingering effect of what's been covered up. A good sugar-free gum may help more in certain situation since it's "sort of like" brushing your teeth, but then you run the risk of looking like a cow (rather a bull since you're a guy) chewing it's cud. So if you chew gum, be mindful to get rid of it after a short while. Regardless, keeping some of these products around will help a little with bad breath control, but don't count on any one of them to completely do the trick every time.
Grooming: While every guy has his own idea what style looks and feels good to himself, there's still some basics to follow here. Your hair and or beard should always be clean and brushed regardless of it's style. Even if your a "long hair" with a "full beard," it's best to get both your hair and bread trimmed occasionally. Keeping some sort of regular shape to your hair and beard let the ladies know that you do care about your outward appearance. If you wear your hair and or beard short, then make sure you shave your beard-line and keep your hair cut, and beard trimmed on a regular basis to maintain that more clean-cut look. Once again, even if they don't say anything directly to you, women do notice these "little details" about a guy.
Clothes: The main point about clothing is that they're not tattered or ratty looking. Guys, you don't have to "dress like a million bucks" all the time, but, be conscientious that your clothes are clean, stain-free, don't have any little holes, frayed hem-lines, collars, cuffs; that the item of clothing isn't so "worn" it's "thread-bare," meaning it's so old and worn-out you can see right through it.
Confidence and Demeanor: So far I've talked about concrete things you can do to alter your physical appearance to make you more appealing to women. Confidence and demeanor are more a "concept." Basically this is how you present your personality to others. Confidence in a way, is "being comfortable in your own skin," that's to say that you aren't overly nervous, and at the same time, not overbearing. A good demeanor is to be pleasant, and be able to smile with your whole face. Don't be afraid to be expressive, but try not to "go over the top," if you know what I mean? Be an active and open part of the conversation. Being able to listen attentively, and being able to share your story as well as asking probing questions within the context of a given conversation goes a long way with women. It's been my experience that women in general really like a guy that has a sense of humor and can get them to smile or laugh, but women also like for a guy to be a little more serious and focused at the appropriate times.
So to wrap this all up in a nutshell, bathe regularly, use deodorant and cologne, brush your teeth AND tongue, comb your hair, wear decent clothes, put on your genuine warm smile, be attentive while not being overbearing, and you'll definitely have a better chance with the ladies.
