Guys - Look Nice & Stylish Without the Effort, Dress Well!

You Don't Need Even Need to Wear Anything Uncomfortable!

Scott Schlimmer
I'm just a regular guy's guy, like most guys. I love sports and don't like spending time shopping or thinking about my wardrobe. There are many of us like this, but too many of us look like we can't dress ourselves. I too went through the white t-shirt and a baseball cap wardrobe days, but at some point we have to move past that. Fortunately, few guys dress well, so the bar is very low. You can look like a stylish dresser without much effort.

I learned how to look like stylish without really trying. I've found that people really notice. Hopefully after reading this article, you will be able to do the same. Don't worry, you'll still be a guy's guy. Maybe more so if all the women like you more now.

Two Pairs of Shoes

You're going to need 2 pairs of nice shoes. Your white, tennis/athletic shoes do not count. Boots can get the job done, but really they should be casual dress shoes. One pair will be black, the other brown.

Dark socks

White sweat socks look terrible with dark shoes. Save the white socks for the gym. Most Guys will rarely notice your socks, but few women will miss it. Just buy a bunch of black sweat socks. It will look like you're wearing dress socks, but will be just as comfortable as your white socks.

Belts

Buy 2 dressy belts, one black and one brown. When you wear black shoes, wear the black belt. Brown shoes? Brown belt. This will make it look like you've composed an ensemble (Translation: Bothered to make sure things matched). Wear your dress belts every day. It will make you look less slobbish. When one breaks, buy a replacement.

Pants

Make sure you have a couple pairs of jeans, a pair of khacki pants, and a pair of black pants. That should cover any situation you could possibly encounter. Most of the time though, I just wear jeans with nice shoes, a nice belt, and a nice shirt. I end up looking well-dressed and you can too, without needing to dress up much.

Shirts

Don't wear t-shirts. Always wear a sweater, button-down, or polo shirt. I have 5 to 10 nice sweaters, and just grab one randomly to wear when it's cold out. It doesn't take much though, so long as they are all nice. In the summer, I can just as randomly grab any button-down or any polo. You'll generally find that these all-purpose shirts will cover you in just about any situation.

There you have it. With just a tiny bit of effort, you'll look nice & stylish.

I think you're wrong about the T-Shirts. I wear plain, solid color T-Shirts a lot (such as black, grey, darker red, and darker blue) and I still get a lot of (good) looks from women. Note that I am still in my teenage years.

I have a feeling the detractors might be ex's of their own, the type that keep getting mentioned! Thanks for the comment Sherry.

I'm with Elizabeth G! I AM going to send it to my ex! And Scott, you are right and the comment left by the detractor is not. It really doesn't take much to look pulled together. You have the basic rules down. It takes no longer to dress neatly than it does to dress like a slob. Good Article :0)

To me, that sounds like the definition of looking "nice & stylish" without the effort. What's wrong with t-shirts? They aren't nice & stylish. Who cares? People who like nice & stylish.

Based on that information, you're not necessarily stylish, you just know the 3 most basic rules of dressing (which are easily debatable), and have also thrown in that we should have several pairs of pants. By the way, what is wrong with T-shirts? As long as you are comfortable, who cares what you are wearing, unless you are at work?

lol. Yeah, I doubt you're the only one who would say that. For some reason, the fashion bar is set very low for guys.
