Guys Get a New Wardrobe Cheap!

How to Dress Well Inexpensively, with a Little Bargain Shopping

James Kings
There are good and inexpensive ways to acquire a wardrobe other then these alternatives-1) having a rich relative die and, thus, you inherit their fashionably awesome wardrobe, or 2) you decide to steal all your clothes from the nearest mall.

You may wonder what in the world is cheaper than those two reasons, and I'll admit freely that there is next to nothing more so than those, for those ways are free. However, I will illustrate a master plan for you, so that you may purchase a wardrobe without breaking your piggy bank.

First and foremost, there are several different types of wardrobes that can be bought. You may want to look like James Bond. I can't help you if this is the case. I can, however, get you set so that you'll be out-dressing every other guy around. Lets face it; the clothes make the man. I'm paraphrasing Mark Twain there. You see, Mark Twain did more than write fancy books and all. He also knew how to dress. Go figure, right?

O.K., the first thing you need to do is get yourself a few pair of jeans. By a few pair, I mean you need three (3) pair of jeans. Three is enough that you won't be wearing the same pair everyday, but it's not so much that you're going to be selling your eyes on the black-market to purchase them. Depending on what you want, that is, whether or not you want a real casual look or want to look a little schoolboy preppy-you may want to substitute the jeans for khakis. If you're a bit of both, then, consider buying two (2) pair of jeans and two (2) pair of khakis. Khakis can be both casual and classy. It's hard to make denim classy.

Where do you get these jeans or khakis? You best bet is to check out a Ross outlet store, A Burlington Coat Factory or Marhsall's. You can get a pair of name-brand pants here for $20 bucks or less. If you don't have any of these near you, then, I suggest checking out a Goody's or another clothing store. You can hit up the clearance racks there, and usually if you look hard enough you can pick up a pair of pants for $20. That's not a lot, because I'm talking about Levi's or Dockers.

You want to get a good pair of pants. Don't go cheap on the pants. Pants last a long time if taken care of, so think of it as an investment. Another great option if checking out Old Navy for pants. You may not know this but Old Navy almost always is having a sale, and you can pick up a pair of pants there for next to nothing, like $10. If you can't get a pair of pants from any of these places, then, I suggest trying Amazon.com. If all else fails, then, go to Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart does carry a cheaper brand of Levi jeans, which run within the $20-$30 dollar range.

So, you've got the pants-now what? Well, my young grasshopper! You're on your way. You're halfway there anyway. You need shirts. Plan on getting five (shirts). What kind of shirts you want depends on you. You can get shirts cheap at any of the discount clothing stores: Ross's, Marhsall's, Burlington Coat Factory. They always have a wide variety of name-brand clothes, and if you hit the clearance racks (do hit the clearance racks first always!) you should be able to snag a shirt or two for $8. It's good to get two (2) button down shirts (long sleeved preferred). You can always roll-up a long sleeve. If you're not into button-up shirts, then, I suggest polo shirts. You have to have some nice looking shirts! If you're hell bent against looking nice, well, it's time for the novelty shirts. Get these at Wal-Mart. They're cheap, usually less than $15. You can find stuff on sale there usually, and you can get shirts for even less. If you wear small sizes, like me, check out the boy's section. A Wal-Mart child's large or medium shirt will fit a small guy like a tight fitted shirt. You can get cool designs, too, like Marvel Comic heroes, et cetera. Once again, try Old Navy's clearance. You can get shirts there for $2 sometimes. I've picked up t-shirts there for 50 cents a piece before.

It's important that you get undershirts to protect your new shirts. Just buy a pack of undershirts Hanes or Fruit of the Loom or off-brand from Wal-Mart or Target or somewhere. These usually cost around $8. It's very important that you get a regular white tee to wear underneath all your shirts. It protects your shirts from developing pit stains, which don't come out. It also protects you from looking disgusting when you sweat like a pig. The investment for undershirts will benefit you. You'll get a lot more mileage out of your new shirts that way.

You're on your way now! Because remember, people don't pay attention to jeans or khakis. They all look the same! So, mix up your shirts-especially dress shirts or polo shirts, and you'll look like you're wearing a new outfit everyday. Remember to match though. You can ruin it all if you don't match. You should have been able to put together a wardrobe for about $100. That's not a lot-trust me. 5 shirts at $10, equals $50. 3 pants at $20 bucks, equals $60. You should be able to find some shirts and pants on sale though, so if you're lucky (persistent) you'll get a new wardrobe for around $80. Good luck!

  • If you're lucky (persistent) you'll get a new wardrobe for around $80!
