Gyration Air Mouse: Is it Worth the Money?

How to Tell If that Air-Mouse is Magic or Just Illusion!

Bee
The Gyration Air Mouse has been around since 1989. In 1991 they introduced the first gyro control for television sets, but how has Gyration advanced it's products in the last 20 years? We'll give you a quick presentation over the Air Mouse and Wireless Keyboard combinations that Gyration offers.

Let's start with a small introduction. The Gyration mouse is one of the world's first air mice. What this means, is that the mouse will actually follow your movements in the air, much like a wiimote can accomplish on the Nintendo Wii, except this works for your entertainment system/PC media center.

The Gyration mice are wonderful for people whose jobs demand presentations of any sort. If you work in Power Point or with any other presentation software, this is the way to go.

Gyro Mice have the functionality to work like a regular mouse, or (when the In-Air button is pressed down) work in the air using the sensitive motion of the user's hand, plus an RF connector to establish the movements. They work from 100+ feet away from the RF USB adapter, and can easily be manipulated to perform any task you need. They combo of wireless mouse/keyboard works great for presentations, gaming, entertainment centers, media centers, or just about anything else you have going on with your PC. the mouse contains a "Gesture" button which can be used to manipulate several aspects of your computer, from twisting the mouse to lower or raise volume, or even switching songs/movies/shows with the flick of the wrist.

Each mouse (there are 3 in total. Two which are similar, and one which resembles more of the traditional "mouse" then the other two) has a set of three programmable buttons which are stationed next to the Gesture Button. These three buttons can be used to minimize all windows at once, open My Documents (or any other folder, for that matter), or just about any other use that you have for them.

The Gesture feature really sets this mouse away from the rest by allowing the user to simply flick the mouse in a direction, or rotate it to perform a task that would otherwise cause the user to get up, or manipulate some other part of the system.

Gyration also has a remote which can help with your presentations or your PC media center (depending on how you're using it). The remote (set up like a standard remote control) also combines the left and right buttons on mice to mimic it's use on a computer.

In conclusion, whether you're looking for a mouse to replace your existing one, a multimedia presentation device to present your products to executives, or just a simple new mouse for gaming and personal purposes, Gyration mice are just about the more technologically advanced way to go.

Prices range from $75 to $130, depending on where you purchase the product, and if it is used or new.
