H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Update: The 4th San Francisco Case Reported

Here are some brief summary about the latest H1N1 Flu around San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation.

San Francisco health officials have confirmed a 4th H1N1 Flu case on Monday afternoon, according to KTVU-TV reports.

Health officials also said all four patients had no severe illnesses or required hospitalization.

In Alameda County, health officials reported a new probable case on Monday.

The total confirmed H1N1 cases in California jumped to 69 as of Monday afternoon, with 121 suspected cases, that includes 4 in Marin County and San Francisco County, and one in San Mateo County, according to California Department of Public Health's Website.

State health officials said earlier this afternoon that 190 probable cases of H1N1 Flu in California, 39 of them are in Bay Area, according to KCBS Radio and KPIX-TV reports.

Two Bay Area schools are closed on Monday because of H1N1 concerns.

As of Monday night, there are 14 schools shut down because of the H1N1 Flu. One school in Alameda County, two schools in Marin County, five in Contra Costa County, and six in Santa Clara County.

Some schools in the Bay Area however are scheduled to reopen on the next few days.

Bahia Vista Elementary in Marin County will be reopened on Tuesday, and Branham High School in Santa County will be reopened on Wednesday.

In New York, CBS News reports the total number of H1N1 cases jumped to 90 on Monday, as New York Governor David Patterson announced 17 suspected cases have been confirmed.

CBS News also reported there are still hundreds of schools in the country closed because of this H1N1 virus.

The acting director of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Richard Besser said he "was not ready to say the virus in the U.S. is in decline, although the latest news is encouraging".

When asked about the indications by the Mexican health authorities, Dr. Besser said "not ready to say that".

Dr. Besser also said he expected H1N1 flu cases are reported almost each state across the nation, and may be more H1N1 deaths reported.

Dr. Besser once again advised people wash their hands frequently, stay home if they are sick.

Meanwhile, CDC said the confirmed H1N1 cases in the U.S. are now 286, with 36 states are reported.
